Brian's Feedback to Looting (quote from reddit)
No amount of outdated thinking from the devs can change the fact that options are almost always better.

" where in my post did i even mention dying once? i merely stated that melee chars have a better chance to pickup loot, because they stand closer to dying mobs. add that to the fact that the servers are currently not running very smoothly and you have the perfect recipe for pissed-off players. @topic i totally support the idea of giving the party leader the ability to decide which loot option he wants. the code for semi-instanced loot is already in the game. implement this feature and i bet that most if not all random groups will use instanced loot. |

" This is the game they made - now the devs are the problem too?? Seriously, just leave. "Wait, what did I just drink?" - Socrates

" I'm inferring that you are going to die. A lot. |

" This +1. I had a lot of fun with the FFA aspect of D2, as a frozen orb sorc waaay back when - until it got nerfed :-( hah! - which was ranged. I feel that one thing that may be missed is that the amount of loot and xp drops that you get in groups is HUGE compared to a lot of solo play, even with an FFA loot system. We'd get way more loot from PUGs than with just going solo a lot of the time. Of course, I wouldn't get everything, but I'd still get a lot. I will say, though, the added timer is a nice touch. Gives ranged a good chance. I hope they don't change it more than a small tweak on the timer length <-> distance formula. One thing about instance loot: We won't get to see whole screens full of items! Personally I love that kind of thing - not to mention you'll have more chances to find grey armors with max rolls or other things you may want, don't get timers, and other people don't want. (Upgarding max rolled greys with alchs comes to mind here.) With instance loot, it's all wasted. I hope instance loot is never made an option. If there are too many options, the game will be bifurcated too much - when you play a PUG it's ONLY hardcore ninjas or it's ONLY super slow longass timers / instanced loot types. I wouldn't be surprised if there are people out there who like variety in their groups and you get the random aspect of who you're grouping with - it adds a whole additional element to the meta game. I know I like it. IGNs:

" At which point, the guy playing Melee has a clear advantage because he knows the ranged character won't dive in to pick up the loot. The problem doesn't get better as you level, if anything it gets worst. I laughed a little at the guy that said Instanced loot breaks lore... There's Lore for the heroes who with great valor dived into the great pits of monsters to pick up a bobble and basically yell: DIBS! ? Or what about the Epic lore about the race to pick up the huge maul that happened to drop out of the legendary golden pot! The basic formula for most of these games is Kill Monsters, Get Loot, Become Stronger, Kill Stronger monster... FFA breaks the flow of that, and makes the entire game about trying to pick up loot, until you get sick of it and decide to isolate yourself from most of the internet. |

What DOES ruin the "cut-throat" feeling is how stupidly easy group play is. It's honestly just a complete joke. You get 6 players, and steamroll the entire game from top to bottom without blinking twice. It's ridiculous. What exactly is "cut-throat" about that?

Its ridiculous how many of you flame people just because you don't agree with their point of view. What ever happened to true discussions that add to the betterment of the game?
