If you buy the $5 pack?
" God some people's reading comprehension, "shelling out" is in no way indicative that I have 50-100 to spend on this game, it was only an expression explaining my desire to spend what I could on the game. That being 5-10 dollars... " Is that so? If so, then why is the $20 option even and the higher options give a bonus? That doesn't make sense... it makes even less sense when you take into account the digital transaction of points is entirely virtual and determined by GGG.... " Agreed, though its sad its the one thing that holds me back from only paying, not playing. The game is great, but if these guys want to see my money they have to fix this.... sorry GGG /: Last edited by NastyPants#4999 on Jan 29, 2013, 3:46:48 PM

They wouldve been smarter to price the items accordingly instead of the pt packs.
I cant see the way they do it now convincing many people to buy the bigger packs instead of just skipping it all together. No one wants to FEEL like theyre getting a shady deal. They couldve easily sold the starter frogs for 36 pts, instead of packs for 96pts. 10$ for 96pts looks a lot more fishy that 1 frog for 36 pts. I'm sure there wouldve been less complaints and eyebrows raised that way. |

" Because they incur lower costs for a higher dollar amount transaction. They could just as easily not given 5 and 10 dollar packs and made people buy 20 dollar packs. This isn't a new concept. Go to some types of vending machines or small establishments(at least here in the US), and they will NOT let you do a credit transaction under a certain dollar amount - transaction fees are pretty high for low dollar amounts. |

They couldve easily charged 7$ for 50 pts instead and it wouldve been an improvement.
Some people are OCD, no one wants to "buy" 46 pts. |
|
" Once again I raise the point why not simply charge $5.15 or $5.50, whatever it takes to balance the books and give the buyers a point value that actually makes sense and works properly in the shop? It just seems illogical to me. It leaves consumers feeling sore for no good reason. |
|
" Because that's the same as giving less points. Whether you charge more, or give less ratio wise it's still around the same. People would still complain about it either way. Even if they gave people 10 points for 1 dollar they'd still find something to complain about. 40 cents worth of points is enough for people to complain about now. Consumers also shouldn't feel sore about anything, it was mentioned over and over again that prices on packs were possibly changing with Open Beta. Fair warning was given. Theres really no use arguing it- hopefully it does work out for them and they make their sales. If not, they'll change it. Thats all it really comes down to

" Exactly my thoughts. If transaction fees are the problem here, charge me extra on the transaction. Giving me points that are essentially worthless doesn't help me at all when all I want to do is buy one item... " I'm well aware of how an atm works, but I have played very few videogames that have a system like this. None even come to mind at the moment. I'm sure there are some out there, but games like TF2 and even Planetside 2 don't have system in such a way where I fell like I'm being ripped off when I pay. Besides, from what I understand, merchant fees from paypal and the likes only apply their fees per total of transactions... |
|
" You keep buying packs until it comes out to an even amount, sadly. Same old greedy BS every F2P game does. This excuse of CC company charges is ridiculous and doesn't remotely address why they chose to do it that way. Ethical indeed. |

" Are you joking? Transaction costs ARE the reason why. You can't compare GGG with the likes of Nexon, EA, etc. simply because they have smaller bargaining power with only one game. It costs them a fair amount to process lower amounts. I'm all for trying to round out the amount of points people get, but still. TF2 is supported by ValvE's platform which naturally has an avenue to negotiate for lower rates. Planetside 2 is supported by SOE, which has had many-many-many years of online games as well as a number of free-to-play games. Combine that with the notion that they have ties to SCEA and they are able to negotiate too.
