because store retailers dont do this.

take my supermarket for example.
they have an item on sale 3 for $6 (ie: $2 each, there's no sliding scale). there's an internet coupon to save $1 off 4.
but wait, my supermarket also has a special if you buy 8, you get a free pint of ice cream.
and they allow multiple coupons.

see.. customer feels they got maximum value = very happy with purchase.

now to put it in GGG's terms, it's 3 for $6 or $2.50 each.

now which retailer makes the customer feel better about their purchase, and about the store in general?
