He's got a point. I wondered the same thing when they "fixed" Item Quantity on items that drop after the patch. Thats great, but doesnt that just create an even bigger divide between new players who can NEVER get these Legacy items and the Old Players who have them and can exploit them for extra drops.
The league is almost 14 months old now. Some people have literally thousands of exalts and mirrored BiS gear in every slot. Legacy items aren't the problem, the fact that standard is a permanent league is the problem. New players can never catch up.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

The passive tree changes, massive skill buffs/nerfs, unique item buffs/nerfs, GGG is continuing to do what they've done since 0.11.0 when they released Anarchy/Onslaught: force a metagame shift. Very rarely is any style of build nerfed to the point of not being viable endgame. Rather, certain styles of builds are made to be easier and more obvious than others. In Anarchy/Onslaught, if you could afford to go CI, you went CI. Provided you had the gear for it, it was extremely easy to reach 11k ES at a time when life builds struggled to hit 5k. In Domination/Nemesis, life was buffed to a point where it became the obvious choice, and CI was a lot more niche. Anarchy/Onslaught had sporkers and blenders; Domination/Nemesis had spectral throwers and summoners.
GGG will continue to do this every four months when new challenge leagues come out. It's part of their design philosophy to force the players to rethink how to build characters every few months, which goes along with the challenge leagues being a 'fresh start' for everyone. Furthermore, it helps to create a 'feel' or 'era' for each set of challenge leagues, apart from the league modifiers.
Very true. A lot of people arent comfortable with that aspect though.

This is interesting because all of my builds became more powerful.
You won't have my gear.

new players are not supposed to catch up. They start fresh in a new league and after 4 months if they want to stay in standard they will have caught up a bit at least. That being said unless they are master traders, no matter how long they play they will never have the BiS legacy items.

Do you remember all the nerfs Diablo 2 had to go through to become a success? It's the same for this game.
Oh wait...
You didn't play Diablo 2, did you?

I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready. Last edited by Pyrokar#6587 on Mar 13, 2014, 1:24:59 PM
