D2 is vastly superior to POE in every single aspect.
2 reasons I don't play it anymore:
- I like a high resolution and playing on closed battlenet. Not possible.
- I also have literally played every viable and non viable build in the game. Even a wirtadin. Twice. Some even thrice.

POE is played because there is literally nothing else that has any quality to it.
So while POE is an extremely average game with no endgame and a sluggish/slow grind, it's still streets ahead of the abortion that is D3.

We play because POE is marginally better than watching a wall.

and i still dont understand the whole design philosphy of ggg. every 4 months they change a lot of things, give us a full respec and they add a lot of stuff. it feels like open beta

I don't get it. What is wrong with new content and changes? Is the ideal game one in which you make one OP character and run that character forever? While some may not like changes after 4 months I can't see how running the same character doing the same thing can be fun for more than 4 months. I enjoy starting all over with a new economy. You don't. To each their own.

GGG made a game the way they want to make a game. Maybe you should make your own game too?

POE>WoW>SMB2>Tetris

The passive tree and skill gem system in POE is certainly better than D2's system.

POE's currency is roughly the same as mid/high runes.

Maps aren't an ideal end game but they beat the hell out of endless Baal runs.

Music definitely goes to D2.

Teleporting with Engima in D2 beats the shit out of leap slamming or lightning warp+faster casting+reduced duration and allowed you to go through walls.

Not really a feature of D2 but undetectable map hacks were great. (C3P0 you are sorely missed)

POE has more potential builds but nearly every possible build in D2 was viable so they have around equal build diversity.


So I would say it is pretty much a wash between the two games. Except the massive difference in graphics in POE's favor which is to be expected given the difference in release. Plus I have put 5+ years into Diablo 2 and bled all the enjoyment out of it.
