Wow lol D2 is hands down the best ARPG ever. People have been playing it for 10+ years.

You obviously have never played D2 because its fairly obvious that the POE Devs have taken 80% of their inspiration from D2. Please stop posting on subjects you don't know about.

I don't think Totems were overpowered compare to Self-Casting (Since release anyway). Were they ? I think the main problem was the efficiency of Cast on Crit builds compare to Self-Cast builds. I don't see how this is being fixed. Am I missing something ?

They are slowly moving towards Diablo 3 path of "sweet spot" balancing. Magic circle of nerfs.
Why nerf anything, just boost everything.
I prefer a changing meta over a stale one.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Also, thank god that it is never obvious how the meta will change. (120% base damage ranged attack ST in nemesis, +250% dmg searing bond Invasion)

Ya they nerfed stuff once in like 10 years.. Not the same at all. Also they weren't nerfing skills or builds every patch.

Since D2 were nerfing only items, and in D2 players get of their dmg/builds via skill tree and skill points.

Its different in POE when you nerf items = nerf builds.


Also not true. 1.09 was the first patch after LoD came out, so between release of d2 classic and 1.09 (approx 2.5 years iirc) there were 9 huge patches that changed things each time. When original d2 came out, necros' number of skells matched the the level they had summon skeletons leveled to, this resulted in summon necros easily getting 25+ skell warriors and mages each, not to mention revives. Necros were seriously OP lag machines, they got nerfed to only get an extra skeleton every 3 levels. Short cooldowns were also added to frozen orb, blizzard, and FoH in this time frame. These are just the obvious ones I remember.

Then let's not forget patch 1.10 which changed the entire game in every way and rendered just about every previous build worthless. Except there was no way to respec at all, you were just left with a bunch of broken characters that couldn't clear nightmare at level 80.

The balancing hadn't really settled down until after 1.10, after the game was already a relic. And even then they made some minor changes afterward like the slight hammerdin Nerf.

I often wonder how many of you guys even played d2 longer than like a patch or two.

Diablo 2 is the ARPG that set the standards of all future ARPGs. It was an amazing game that most older players on these Forums grew up on. The reason we don't play it today is because it is dated... it is nearly 14 years old.

Asking why Diablo 2 is mentioned on an ARPG forum is like asking why Ocarina of Time might be mentioned on any contemporary action/adventure game forum.
Keep PoE2 Difficult.
