While RMT/Botting is the trend, lets share our magical solution and vote on them
" This. Although we may say that linking/chromating (specially linking) could use some changes too (like the ones suggested or others), but let's forget that for now. Perfect items should only be able to be found/gambled (using the current orbs). After all this is a game about loot finding. Remove eternals AND mirrors, they are a curse for the economy; all this rmt started to get out of hand when getting high end gear got economically efficient, if to get a BiS item would cost thousands of dollars a piece because is close to impossible almost no one would RMT (specially as long as you can get very good gear with some effort through crafting), and the ones who did would be easily investigated. Add a crafting system which let you craft incrementally near-BiS/high tier items (never BiS) removing too much RNG from the equation. MAYBE consider to make crafting materials & crafted items (not gambled with the current currencies) account bound, open for discussion. About the OP. You can't remove RMT, but you can make it's marginal utility much lower (with stuff like the pointed above), and it's impact on legit players much lower and focused (distorting the economy). Then focus on botting, which is the most harmful for the overall economy to be honest (I believe GGG's focus is already botting anyway, rightly so). Fix the economy and most people won't give a crap about RMT, even if it's an issue it won't be very important one. Unlike now, where RMT'ing/botting/etc. is very influential if you get involved in end-game, trading etc. |

At the end of the day one thing is certain. Large amounts of players have already quit playing the game because it is completely unrewarding when you consider time spent versus rewards gained. The current state of the game strongly encourages RMT because the entire loot system and itemization is designed to thwart RMT and botter efforts. What this does to the average player is makes 99.999999% of all items absolute garbage. Try to do it solo/self found and that figure becomes 99.9999999999999999999%. It is completely demoralizing.
Right now, meaningful progression and a sense of joy from finding an upgrade gets walled behind trade entirely too early. You can find incremental upgrades only up to about 30-40% of the maximum power curve, after that point it is almost impossible to even craft an upgrade let alone drop one. This is a problem because it gives only 2 options for continuing progression: Either drop that character entirely or resort to RMT or trading/flipping. I personally think that the nice steady gear progression should begin to hit the wall at the 75-80% mark on the power curve. This would allow more people to feel powerful and it would allow more builds to become viable in end game. The only way that equipping items in the 30-40% range of the power curve even feels remotely viable in endgame is when you are using a super basic cookie cutter build. And at the end of the day playing the game is frustrating because that feeling of being godlike never comes for most people except for the most hardcore flippers or RMT users. I have probably around 2k hours invested into this game and I have had not even 1 BiS item. I have only ever found 1 unique in the same tier as kaoms, but because RNG likes to constantly fuck me it was this POS(no offemce charan but this should not be dropping anywhere near merciless, especially since it cant even benefit from being ilvl 50+)
Spoiler
Hell, I even tried my hand at the trade sim. I set up a shop, set buyouts for the things i was able to price check and just told people to offer anything for things i wasnt too certain of the value. Did I make enough currency to accomplish crafting any sort of GG item? Hell no. If the only things that drop are all complete and utter shit that nobody wants then of course you can never make a sale. The few good items I did manage to acquire I got nothing but flippers offering me half of what my buyout was just so they could turn around and profit on it and my buyouts were already low as shit, priced to move is what they say, but even then i couldnt make enough sales to feel any meaningful progress. So in summary I think the magic solution really IS to make all orbs drop like fucking candy and anything that gets an eternal used on it becomes account bound. This would still allow traders to have a market while still allowing solo/ self found people to enjoy the same endgame as the traders. Also, under absolutely no circumstances would it be ok to limit the upper end of crafted items simply because there is no floor to the power level of dropped items. You guys may not agree with me on this and understandably so, many players have already built "wealth" in accordance to the current system and any changes that help the solo player devalue the previous work of the economy players. One thing cannot be denied though, the current system heavily favors scamming and RMT and is driving away large amounts of regular players. And no, this isnt about instant gratification or any of that bullshit, 2k hours is nowhere near instant. |

" To sum up: there is simply not enough carrot given to the player. I totally agree. The game itself drives players towards RMT. Why spend 2K+ hours and get 1 good item? Honestly even if you make just 10 dollars per hour - put in 10 hours of OT and BAM you get a BIS 6link item. Clearly if GGG wants to help alleviate some of it's RMT/BOT issues it needs to start to consider throwing the player a bone... more carrot is needed. Not to make us full on it... no... but we need more for what we put into the game. RNG is RNG and all that junk. <rolleyes> |

RMT is the trend according to whom and with what evidence.
It's all hearsay. A lot of people accuse popular streamers of RMTing lol. You can get a crazy amount of wealth just abusing the regal/chaos/alch recipes AND PLAYING THE GAME, which people DO. Stop being lazy and play. Stop whining and you'll suddenly be much richer, because you're spending your whine time constructively. " Im sorry for being dumb Sexcallibure, after reading all the posts I kinda got caught up in wanting to state my opinion on the whole RMT situation and ended up making a very very large brick wall of text. Trust me though, my suggestion on how to fix this is in there. Edit> Just so you dont have to go back to my wally of text and find my suggestion: Please add this to the poll by the way, All orbs except Mirror and eternal drop like candy, use of eternal binds item to account or maybe even to that character. Edit # 2- Anubite, what you say is absolute horse shit. I can almost guarantee I have many more hours of high level mapping under my belt than the majority of players. The only way you build wealth by "just playing the game" is if you make it a point to never map at which point all this wealth you are building is absolutely pointless because farming piety or dom in merc is a fucking cakewalk. In order for your words to be valid in any way is if the same could be said about maps which it cannot. Whiteknight all you want but at the end of the day you are just speaking nonsense and never once have you provided any evidence to support your claim.
