While RMT/Botting is the trend, lets share our magical solution and vote on them
There is no way to stop it, even in a magical setting.

"So you are like 96 other stupid people that cant read a damn question right lol the question aint about eradicating those problems, its about preventing, how to lessen their existence to lessen their impact its like trying to prevent aging, we all fucking know we are going to age and die as there will always be morons that bot and rmt but the goal is to slow their progress ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it Last edited by Sexcalibure#7575 on Feb 26, 2014, 10:27:28 AM

" Its already been said before. Remove the incentive and the botters cease to exist. Its as simple as that. With the introduction of guilds and the fact that town instances are shared GGG has no further need to strongly encourage participation in the economy because there is already plenty of social interaction going on in order for the MTX to be seen by others. Just because those people with time and orbs invested in the economy refuse to acknowledge this as fact, and it is fact, does not make it any less true. As for game difficulty, there is none when you trade your way to BiS gear so allowing players to perfect their characters without engaging in economy wouldnt hurt anything. There are so many build to try that there is zero reason to make everything such a fucking grind. |

account bound all quantity items removes the incentive. remove the means to trade the items that give players orb botting advantage and they will stop. the orbs are not the problem.

" Yes, yes they are. Quantity items that wont even exist in new leagues becoming account bound is a solution? I dont even.... Do you truly honestly think that IIQ gems and equips are the only things keeping the RMTers afloat? And removing the thing that helps real players does nothing to affect botters because they can farm indefinitely. 24/7/365. It does not matter what you do to the bots themselves because botters run bot farms so they will ALWAYS have the advantage over the real player. The ONLY way to hurt them is to remove the incentive and therefore the demand/market. Last edited by thedestroyerofkids#0554 on Feb 26, 2014, 10:53:28 AM

Anyone else drawing parallels to DRM?
Companies want to fight piracy, so they implement draconian measures in their software that only end up hurting the legitimate end-users experience. Pirates continue to pirate. This discussion seems to be heading in the direction of "fuck the end user, punish pirates at all costs" High profile cases should be addressed in quicker order, I do agree. But other than that, just chill out, and stop worrying so much about it, and you'll feel better. A comprehensive, easy on the eyes loot filter:

" I totally agree with you on this point except for one thing. These things that screw the player in order to impede bots can be easily remedied with trade. I prefer not to trade so therefore it cannot be remedied for me. |

" Though I would love to push a larger crafting base economy; the changes posed does very little. 1. Yes; this would happen, but the advantage of having a "currency"; read chaos orb, is the convenience of trade. Becomes drastically harder to care to trade your smaller items or skill gems; as well as inventory issues. 2. Improving the amount people craft is most helped by the removal of mirrors, if a mirror drops you can still copy the item (requires trusting the person you're trading to). Mirror imo is a huge issue, but dealing with the problem and all the existing copies creates another one. 3. Flipping will be more difficult; which is great. Botting will not be pointless, bots will still gather currency; but have one more step to use such currency in crafting gear. RMT would simply skip a step and you'd buy the crafted items, rather then orb currency. So in terms of RMT nothing would change and botting wouldn't change. 4. I personally like that maps are a currency sink; the gated contents, the difficulty to farm makes setting up builds and rolls an interest. Though this aspect is already changing with the addition to corrupt maps. So; though I think you have valid steps and thought into the possible solution, unfortunately it does fall short. This is a difficult topic, and solving it will be great for PoE itself and the community. At this point in time I don't have an alternate idea; so back to the drawing board with everyone! |
