Is POE doing enough to counter the D3 ROS hype?

The fact that there is no trading or so in RoS is going to make you cry even more because guess what? The best items are still rare and the streamer/neighbour's no lifer will still have better gear than you do and there's no trading to mitigate your bad RNG. In addition, D3 never had and never will have any builds or specialization(no, the paragon stats won't change this) and the same piece of gear is the best on all "builds". Such fun.

Yes, I will buy RoS. Yes, I'll play through it once with friends and I guess that's going to be it.

I will not buy D3:RoS day 1. D3 vanilla sold out like hot cakes and the devs made it seem as if D2 had nothing to do with the success... D3 to me is not a true sequel. I do think its a good game, but more so from an "arcade" PoV.

What D3 ROS hype?

It's the least hyped, least talked about Blizzard release I can remember in my lifetime.

For me, it's easy. I have never been a big gamer. I never played games before my first one which was D1. Then D2LoD. Played that for 7-8 years almost.
Quit it. Didn't even look at another game for close to 4 years. Heard about D3 and was all over it. After a few weeks I realized it was not a
Diablo game at all but used a lot of names from Diablo??? Weird I know. Anyways, it sucked ass even with all there shitty patches and then I tried PoE. So PoE is the game for me for many years now. I have no desire or time to play anything else. Thanks GGG!

I am one of those people.When I found POE I felt it was amazing from the design to gameplay to how great everyone in GGG was.Sadly that was open beta.Since release GGG has made one mistake after another(but i'm not going into that).Two of my RL friends still play D3(why I dont know).If the poe mini expansion isnt atleast decent (and i have my doubts) im at the very least going to take a break from poe and play ros.Pfft its only 40$ and i'll bullshit with my 2 friends till I either get sick of them or the game(game most likely).I would rather feed the 40$ to GGG but currently I'm very unhappy with there design/tactics.

I'm not really feeling the hype. The D3 expansion hasn't fixed the root problem:

You don't build a character in that game. There is no reason to replay the game with a new character.

They are trying to band-aid the problem by putting crazy mods on legendaries, and making drops tailored for your class, and binding the best items to your account so that you have to find them yourself. All the changes they are making are designed to extend the farming of your character.

They say "Diablo is about killing monsters and finding loot!!!"

Its not. The item hunt is not what makes these games fun, in my opinion, its building characters. Planning and executing your character's "life". Finding the right items to help you DO THAT. Items are a means to an end, not the whole game.
