Why are people against Instanced Looting?
You're more than welcome to enjoy it.
Just because you want something changed, does not mean it should be. Maybe you should consider changing your playstyle, join a guild, meet people in these forums. I've left my cave. I have no problem exploring the wild realms of Wraeclast. It would appear that you do not. If you're scared to go at it alone, bring/find some friends. |

" This is not how it works though, I wish is was. The looting is an issue, and they should be looking into a better solution. I play with friends that I can talk to over Skype exclusively. Public parties is mostly hit and run, which really hurts the game. | |
Just to let you in on something.
Out of ALL the looting threads EVER on these forums. NOTHING has became of ANY of it. The game used to be FFA, however this was changed to timers as a balance issue for Ranged players (to give them a CHANCE, and ping). Both of which it accomplishes. You're more than welcome, and in fact encouraged, to post you opinion. Just realize, that main Looting thread is like a Recycle Bin. |

" Instanced Loot would likely greatly impact the variety & quantity of loot the player base will be playing with. Instead of getting 160% loot or whatever it is with 6 players you'd end up with 600% loot. On top of that you'll probably want each players Loot Quality and Loot Quantity stats to affect there individualized loot drops instead of it being determined by the player that dealt the killing blow. (Implementing Instanced Loot makes it a slippery slope towards the last thing I mentioned) Anyways I prefer the current system but also agree the loot timer should be increased to around Edit: Computer specifications: Windows 10 Pro x64 | AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero (WiFi) Motherboard | 32GB 3600MHz RAM | MSI Geforce 1070Ti Gamer | Corsair AX 760watt PSU | Samsung 860 Pro 512GB SSD & Crucial MX 500 4TB SSD's Last edited by Nicholas_Steel#0509 on Jan 28, 2013, 2:35:46 AM

The timer is there for a reason, and increasing it to 15-20 second defeats its purpose.
I would be fine with maybe another second or two added to its base. As long as an FFA option were added. It slows down team play too much already. EDIT: Current system is anywhere from 2-8. It's length is determined by your distance from the mobs. A timer from 3-8 or 4-9 would be about the longest I could see the devs EVER putting in place. Honestly, if this were added, they would have to allow for a FFA option. The amount timers already slow down gameplay is too high. Increasing it further would drive me insane. " It's not simply because I want it changed, but because it would make more sense for it to be changed. Why must I changed my playstyle to conform to a backwards system? Because the current system is the way you want it, of course you have no problem telling people what to do. Why don't you actually read my thread and tell what doesn't make sense about my side of argument, instead of telling me to simply accept your side? You must realize not everyone thinks the same way, and neither your opinion nor GGG's is "correct". No one's is, which is why these arguments arise. What better option than to incorporate both sides and let players choose? Last edited by tinghshi#7226 on Jan 28, 2013, 1:43:08 AM

Am I the only person playing this game who doesn't have any real strong feelings towards one loot system or the other?

"No, they're shooting themselves in the foot by appealing to the same niche market that they explicitly drove out by not allowing PKing in the game. Pick one or the other. Seriously, this serves no purpose other than to allow griefing. At LEAST allow the timer to last one or two seconds longer so people can actually get a fair shake. How many people are just skipping out on groups explicitly because of this issue? |

" Oh, it depends. If few people use grabit asking his loot stealing easier, he'll love it. If almost everybody uses ir meaning he doesn't get to ninja stuff, he'll bitch and moan about it. Because its what all this is about, griefing. Closed beta player, August 2011

From what I heard the current loot system should promote something like loot tension. At least thats what one person said, but...
1)Most people wont party with random people, because of chance to encounter ninja! +1 to discourage party play 2)Most people will play only with friends who know how to share loot. - loot tension 3)People who dont have friends in this game yet, will play on solo. +1 to discourage party play 4)Small group of people will be the ninjas and actualy enjoy the system! +1 to party play 5)People need to rush for loot instead of fighting enemy. +1 to bad teamplay 1/5 scenarios the systems works fine... sems like legit design! EDIT: So the only good scenario is the one about party of friends who know how to share loot. It promote good teamplay, but it remove loot tension, so there is no difference to instaced loot. In this scenario, the current system fail aswell, because there is no need for it in such case. Last edited by herflik#4390 on Jan 28, 2013, 4:53:58 AM
