POE= Ninja looting game?

Just a note to the people saying GGG want's to make loot a competition all they are doing atm is making people solo play instead of playing in a group. That cannot be good for the community. You cant compare this game to D3 as PoE is a much better game, I just hate clicking on loot while the timer is still up only to have it sniped by someone who is waiting by it waiting for the second the timer goes off.

I wouldn't mind certain loot being assigned to certain players based on factors that can be variable, like what works better for certain classes (int gear for mages.. str gear for marauders) or decide loot via rolling, or just make the timer a bit longer for the loot. Probably around 15-30 seconds for exclusive loot would be close to satisfactory. :)
I posted a thread of my own with some ideas. Making the items have full timers until all the mobs are dead, Increase the timers ect.... I just thought too making items invisible to other players until the timer went off would even help a little at least players wouldn't stop fighting just to hover over your loot.

Why should I be playing with people who Ninja loot all the time?
I don't know. Why are you? Play with friends next time. Problem solved.

Problem still exists. Workaround used.
At the very least I would like to be able to NOT see the items allocated to the other players from the party until they are free for all to pick.
Seeing 5-8 progress bars at the same time on the screen is very confusing to me and my friends. We're having a hard time reading what items belongs to who.

Another good suggestion.
Maybe undoing any rangerestriction on pickup might fix the timerproblem so u can pickup the item from anyplace. This would at least help range chars like sorc or ranger 2 get their loot without running into monster hordes and die and it would minimize the time u loose fighting monsters still alive while pickin up ur loot
U cant even pickup your own loot in the time that is given if you are shooting the mobs from a range. I support the competitive looting and stuff but sometimes you dont get the chance to pick it up even. Like when you click the item and your character gets stuck somewhere halfway and it cancels the pickup lol...

Another big problem is that instanced loot is really detrimental to the idea of group play. The whole point of this game might be to kill monsters, but the end result is loot appears when you kill them. These games are about the items. If there is no communication within the group, what's the point of even being in the group? People moan about, "Well, I don't want to get to know people, I just want to play and get my lootz!" and this is completely ass-backwards in my opinion. Group play is supposed to be a social thing where you interact with each other and co-operate as a group. Some may argue that the majority of the player base are "ninja looters" and they'll just disregard the rules, but when you think about it, it seems like a large majority of players dislike this FFA loot aspect of the game. Wouldn't you think that most reasonable people would adhere to rules established by the group leader so long as they were discussed? This isn't a mainstream game like Diablo 3, this is an indie game that appeals to a small group of players looking for a particular experience. It is very easy to weed out the bad seeds. There's no harm in advertising your group as "Drops according to name on timer" or however you want to do it, establishing these rules with those who join your group, and kicking those who disregard these rules. It's actually pretty simple. The only counter argument to this that I can think of is that, "Oh, well that requires more effort :(" in which case, you shouldn't be grouping (public grouping, that is) if you don't want to actually interact with people you don't know.

The communication shouldn't be over fighting loot (unless you are trying to get an item which someone else received, in which case you are trading)

The communication should be over how to defeat the boss, roles, buffs, etc etc (you know, the actual fighting stuff).

The FFA loot mechanic is an outdated, archaic mechanic from D2 that is really god damn terrible. If people want to communicate over loot, thats what the whole point of the trade chat is for, hell GGG can even implement a lighter verison of the AH (with no real money)
