POE= Ninja looting game?
At the risk of getting flamed, I'll speak my mind.
I do not think that having the timer the way it currently is is a problem, however I do understand the frustration of missing an item that dropped for you because you were focused on not dying. The only change I would suggest is that if an item drops and is assigned to you, it should automatically show up as if you were hovering over the item for the duration of the timer, to inform you that there's a drop for you on the ground. This way it would still be "Competitive" and would still suffice to let people who aren't constantly pressing alt like me to be able to see when they get a drop. IGN: Darkflayme

" I used to agree with this, but now I can't help but think that this is bad for the community. Just extend the loot timers and I think the issue will fix itself. |

I like that loot isn't instanced and I also like the timer to balance the problems that brings but at 2 seconds it might as well not exist at all. An increase to 5 seconds at least would be a great improvement in my view. That would allow me to cursor over the item and decide if I want to take it, or leave it for someone else.

Ninja looting is a huge aspect of this genre. Coming from Diablo 2 I want, and expect a full FFA for loot. However, I do understand the reasoning for short drop timers for ranged characters.
That being said the loot timers already compensate for distance which is more than enough. I personally would like to see the loot timers done away with entirely. If you're a ranged character, and you're staying so far back/lagging behind that you cant get to your own loot then you're the problem with the current system. |

I agree with OP the ninja looting culture kill the grouping. I just don t group vecauseof this, no sense of having people letting you battle while concentrating in looting and when danger is too high instead of battling they alt F4, portal or similar
And yes D3 did it right there, it the absolute only thing they did right And its easy to identify the ninjaer here, like the guy above me Last edited by Slaunyeh#1585 on Jan 29, 2013, 7:37:32 PM

I just played some d2 and ninja a arachnid mesh from a baal bot :/ maybe he wasnt looking for items. I ninjad it from the other 5 people in the game. Unless that were bots too. Then ima ninja.
I try not to ninja your gear. If nobody says anything then i assume yous dont care. n most likely will try ninja mine.. so i'll try ninja yours. I just roll with the party leaders requests. Share / loot by name / kick if ninja. and if nothings said. i assume youre all going for ninjas. So as long as the group im with has defined how they would like us to loot, then i comply. Its only fair. [IT GOES BOTH WAYS] I dont think people understand that. But if he can ninja your loot. You have basically equal chance to ninja his. I like the alloccated name system. I just dont like when i go to click on my stuff and it poofs with the timer still on cause i fps spiked or lag spiked. But unless stated in the game name / loot by name or kick / people seem to think that item is theirs. Ive felt that feeling before. But then i look at the above statment. it goes both ways. Smoother than Smooth. Last edited by Moist#6523 on Jan 29, 2013, 8:08:16 PM

GGG should give the option to party creator to set up how you want the loot to be.
Personally I find it pretty retarded to be fighting that one champion while an other ranged idiot in safety picks up the loot dropping from other mobs that are dying elsewhere while racking XP. But hey, it's just my opinion. Also, 'play with friends' etc., well if I want to meet people to play with, one way is to use public parties, but the current environment does not really help much at making friends. Specially when you can't enforce rules beyond 'ninja = quick'. I don't mind all the ninja's circle-jerking in their own game, while I concentrate at playing the game instead of rushing for the next drop while there are mobs in the screen. BTW this is the only incentive to play solo, funny enough, cause playing in groups is much more safe (at least in HC, in default I guess people won't care that much). Moist got it almost right but: a tank will always be nearer to the loot and if you fight against a group he can go and pick it up, but I, the summoner in the background, will be killed when i try to go for it. and thats the point where he can ninja me and i cannot ninja him, if you just doubled that time you have to claim "your" items and add another second, we all yhould be able to collect "our" items nicely while still giving others the opportunity to take the rares we do not even want looking at or all run and dive for the 6l chest that just now dropped as a white. Oaky, with the servers out of stress the 1 sec longer should be all that we need to dive for our crap with less haste.
