POE= Ninja looting game?
The countdown on items needs to be at least 10 seconds, probably more on gems/currency/rares/uniques. It also shouldn't start counting down until you've entered viewing distance of the item.

you are right about that. But in d2 i remember as a ranged character, i would still go right into the fray, if i really wanted the loots. This was done in the last seconds, when the boss was close to dying. That way i had a chance to grab the loots.
im not against adding one more second tho. Cause it would be nice. Smoother than Smooth.

" I actually logged into the forums to post about this today, behold I'm 6 or 7 pages late! Yes the timer is the only issue, if your going to implement such a thing at least make it more than 2.5 seconds, even in groups of friends people just instinctively camp until its fair game. Either that or lower the % of assigned rare items, have them drop closer to the Player who killed the enemy unit...anything could be an improvement over the near instant timer and rare drop camping. Keep in mind this is an open beta, having skimmed through the pages I'm seeing alot of whining and comparison to a decade+ old computer game who's name I will not be mentioning. There is plenty of time to fix these minor issues. Yeah seems like all the scum from D2 who botted and ninja'ed the shit out of the game found a new home in PoE and traded their D2jsp forum gold for gold supporter status and promoting their retarded ideas about "fair loot" here.
Hate to break it for you guys but GGG will bent over and bite the pillow under the massive load of social gamers coming into this game who will criticize this crap system. Last edited by MrMeowMeow#1120 on Jan 29, 2013, 9:55:39 PM

What is the best way to ninja loot? Is being a melee enough, or do you need to have speed stacked too?
I know I gotta go heavy dps to get the xp and the loot. But I am not sure what to build to do that.
" Frost Wall will probably be your best tool for such activities.
" You have some good points. You just need to learn how to make them civilly. Please take this time off as an opportunity to brush up on your internet social skills. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

" What a defeatist mindset. "It's just part of the game. It could be better but this is a hack and slash so it sucks." If it could be better it should be better. When given the choice, I'm sure that no less than 95% of the playerbase of this game would choose to have a system in which so-called "ninja looting" isn't happening. It would be better for the community because it would foster trust to have parties in which people didn't constantly "steal" from each other. And yes, just because the loot has my name on it doesn't make it "my loot" when the timer goes up, but that's how many people perceive it and it's hard to tell them "No that's not how it is." For the life of me, I just cannot think of one REAL reason why FFA or short-timed loot systems are still OK. I love you GGG don't be angry at me. yeah, the looting in open beta is an all out scumbag fest, i wouldnt be so pissed if items with my name on it actually would get picked up when clicked, but nope, ill sit there clicking a chaos orb 100x but as soon as the timer goes away some scumbag picks it up no problem
the item system NEEDS to be fixed, whether it be doubling or tripling the timer or completely instancing it |

It is getting annoying... i always get ninja looted because of my FPS and ping. Either remove the timer completely or lengthen it, its quite pointless at the moment.
At this rate the community is going downhill cause its making me ninja looting at any possible chance cause everyone is doing it... really fouls the gaming environment, Last edited by dest1ny#7703 on Jan 30, 2013, 12:05:28 AM
