Hey "genious"...who do you think got PoE this far in the first place? The people who supported with money, or the noobs who want instanced loot? PoE existed before all these people showed up, and it will continue to exist after they go back to D3 for "their loot".
1. seriously, this is coming from someone who didnt support the game to someone who who did buy 2 supporter packs while this game was in closed beta EVEN THOU i had a free key since 2011. and will spend more money once this game becomes much more stable as it disconnects me too often to play normally since open beta started!
2. caling someone a noob who you dont know speeks more of you than about me, i am neither a noob nor a newb in path of exile
3. i as a h&s arpg veteran(been playing d&hf while it was a new game...) couldnt stand looting in d2(nor could any normal player in early 2000s it was a big problem then) nor can i and most people (that ,like me, hate d3) stand the loot system here

If GGG wants to promote competition in party play, they should include some system where the most efficient player in the team is rewarded. A kill count or damage meter would work fine. The players would actually have something to compete for.
This loot system certainly doesn't promote any competition.

But the timer is pretty fair. If i dont act imidietly then theres a chance i may miss the item.
Like earlier. someone grabbed the 9% haste with my name on it. did i want that. hells yeah i did. But i leap slammed up to the next chest and a GCP drops in my name. so whatever. Would have been nice to have both eh, still got somethign decent. It goes both way

d2, if you were not nut hugging the boss when it died and ( chose a spot on the screen to spam click ) you were getting nothing, not even a white for as many runs as you wanted to run.

How about this suggestion: Allow party leaders to choose a loot system between grabfest and instanced loot. I bet my left nut, no scrap that, I bet my dick 99% of public parties are gonna use instanced loot because it's fun for nobody if just one guy tries to kill the monsters while the rest tries to reach their loot in time, resulting in hostility, slow as fuck runs and an overall bad atmosphere in the game.

My playtime is limited and I don't care to waste it being angry at people who are encouraged to be at their very worst. Every public game so far I have left feeling annoyed at people; there was certainly no chance that anyone in any of those games were going to become friends.
Honestly, ninja looting would be fine by me if I could murder someone who I didn't like. But having a ninja-loot system in a *PvE* game? So that everybody can be a dick and nobody can do anything about it? Someone explain to me where the fun part is here.
Edit: Honestly at the very least there should be some way to TELL who grabs what. As it is you have complete anonymity along with no possibility of repercussions.

There is 1 thing bothering me about the loot system, most of the cases when I am in a party my ms is 200-400, now I live in Europe and I pick an European server. Sometimes a rare drop is next to me, I click it as fast as possible, I have to click it twice more and I still won't get it due to ms latencys, a few times I've had 100 ms and it is impossible to loot from me, latency issue is a big thing.
Another thing is that the timer really has to be longer due to the fact that squishy built characters can't go near the mobs(might lag or what-not) and tanky ones/melee ones have an upper hand here, because they can see the items better.
