POE= Ninja looting game?

Taking an item they don't need is not ninja looting. that is just not following a "need before greed" protocol that has nothing to do with the timer - and if you want to play that way - you should make it explicitly clear before setting out.

Taking all items is, as you said, called a loot whore - that has nothing to do with the timer or being a ninja so it is irrelevant to this topic.

Triggering mobs to distract the other players and then looting a chest - is also ninja looting, but has nothing to do with the timer.

lol, those things are globally considered ninja looting, and are all applicable here in PoE in some way, it doesnt really matter that YOU DONT consider them such
here are some examples why is it ninja looting here:

1.ninja takes my rare/unique as soon as the too short timer is over even tho it is useless for his/hers build, and may benefit me or some other party member...this IS ninja looting
2.taking all rare/unique/orb/and so on... items before the rest of the group has a chance to pick them up is ninja looting as well as loot whoring, don does not exclude the other...i dont mind anyone scavenging and picking everithing that other party members dont need, but this is obviously ninja looting...
3.it has everything to do with the timer, some of that stuff is rightfully mine and i didnt get the chance to get to it because of the 3 sec timer...

Increase the loot timer to about 20 seconds for yellow items and orbs.
oh, and everyone in the party should have the same quantity/quality drop chance so leechers dont get any more drops than the rest of the party, i dont care how this is handled, but its retarded that someone who build their character around drop bonus gets most of the good loot while not benefiting the whole party in any way

you just need culling strike and almost no damage...

i support this thread.

there is no reason lore-wise or coding related to not give the party leader the ability to customize loot options.

random parties can set the timer to a higher level while parties of friends can turn it down because they share loot anyway.

i have no problem playing this game like a solo player game until ffa loot is fixed, but i thought that party play was one of the selling points.
every random party i joined till now was very awkward.
no friendly chatting, because you could miss loot -> feels like playing with bots
no action while loot was on the floor, because you need to spam click on every valuable to make sure you dont get screwed over -> boring
if someone lost an item it most often resulted in a flaming war, because said person felt like he had been robbed of his loot.
i know that the community will be horrible in the first few months, because this is a f2p game, but why do you need to give this people another reason (losing loot) to flame ingame?

1. - that is just being greedy. they didn't ninja it, ninja refers to someone doing something sneaky-stealthy. you just didn't pick up your loot. If I drop a 10 dollar bill on the ground, see it, and do nothing about it. I can't get upset at the guy who walks by and picks it up.
2. Taking everything is just being greedy.
3. It isn't rightfully yours if the timer expires.

Looks like you want to say something like -

Ninja - anyone who takes loot anyone might need at any time.

You can go ahead and define it that way, it's fine. but it really makes the term meaningless because it is so broad it can be applied to almost any situation in which someone took something you wanted.

For the record.. I want allocated loot. I do not enjoy the loot system we have. However, I am not going to call everyone a ninja just because they took loot that WAS allocated to me after the timer expired. Why? Because the rules in the game are pretty clear - the loot is only yours when it is allocated to you. After that, it's anyones.

FFA loot is fun.

You win some.

You loose some.

Deal with it.

no it is not, i will not deal with it but will try to change it
you deal with ninja looting in parties that want ninja looting enabled, not my party
Plenty of other games for all you people who think loot is "yours" before its in your bag. You should go play them, cos I don't think PoE is for you.

PoE loot will never be instanced or "rolled for". Accept it or move on.

The item is yours when it is in your bag.

LOL, no we wont to both statements, gameplay wise this is a great game, but some mechanics not pertaining to combat need to be changed
and if we all leave you "genious" wont have anything to play anymore since that would probably mean most of the current players without whom this game wont survive

Hey "genious"...who do you think got PoE this far in the first place? The people who supported with money, or the noobs who want instanced loot? PoE existed before all these people showed up, and it will continue to exist after they go back to D3 for "their loot".
The item is yours when it is in your bag.
