Poor customer service, bad business

I started playing this game back in December and I slowly upgraded my account to Gold Supporter because I had fate in this company. But yesterday, my mouth literally fell on the ground.

The first coins I spent during Closed Beta were for extra stash tab last week. Since I knew that prices were not gonna be very cheap, which is very understandable for a free game, I told myself to go conservative on my spendings on cosmetics.

Then, before yesterday launch I realise that they made 6 tabs stash bundles available at the cost of 5 tabs. I felt a bit sad about it because I just spend lots of coins on those during last week. I would have just waited a few more days.

So, I am being suggested to post this in the support to get help with my situation (understandable situation). So I did so and asked to turn my tabs in 6 tabs bundles politely. This is the answer I got...

Hi PureLaine,

Sorry but we don't offer refunds on microtransactions for any reason. This is company policy I'm afraid, so no exceptions can be made unfortunately. This policy was put in place because too many people were attempting to exploit microtransaction refunds to “try before they buy”.

Cheers,

I am disappointed to the highest level with this answer. I am not asking for refund at all and they refer me to the abuse and exploiting they got. But again, I can't in no way being testing the goods nor being exploiting following my situation. I actually feel insulted by this level of poor communication with customer service.

EDIT: Quote that could help people understand this common business practice we have here in Canada.

actually... I do this frequently... not for 2 ~ 5 $ ... but on items that go 20~30% off... I go back and ask for my money.

you have to realize here, that the OP is not complaining about 4$... that's chunk change.. he's complaining about the principle.

Canada has really strong consumer protection laws that prevent us from being gouged (well.. as much as possible) from retailers. Sometimes it's easy to forget that we are dealing with foreign companies.

Calling the OP stupid just shows the lack of understanding from where he comes from.

I noticed the same price diff last night, and I too was a little mift about it. I decided to just hold my breath in for the small amount of $ the effort would be worth to me.. but I'm glad the OP here posted and stood up for what he believes is right (in our neck of the world).

IT's a shame that our ways offend some of you to the point of calling him stupid...

example of a big retailer:

https://secure.sears.ca/content/customer-service/pricing/price-match-plus

heck... they promote 90 days if you buy with their CC... 30 for anything else.

to me that's good business..

nough said.

Very little respect I see here for our fellow players. Disagreement doesn't have to come with name-calling and vitriol. You think calling someone stupid reflects poorly on THEM. It actually reflects poorly ON YOU.

All of you who have partaken in it are wrong in all your countries for doing so. It's called human decency. There's no need to call names while we debate whether GGGs shop policies should improve. If nothing else, that's pretty much the principle in question: should they improve their customer service on such trivial things as a stash tab? If you can't talk about that without name-calling, you don't deserve to be able to post on the forum.

To all of you screaming about your countries consumer policies ....I'm willing to bet some of you are from America. Most department stores (yes, the trillionaires who can certainly afford to lose a few hundred customers) offer time windows for returning things that go on sale. For example, 14-day refunds if the item goes on sale within 14 days of your purchase, or 30 or 60 days. See Macys, Carson's, Sears, and all those other major stores swimming in cash and customers. They will refund you the difference if an item goes on sale within that given time frame if you bought it. This is called not being difficult about something trivial. That customer will spend 100x's more money in your store if you just give them a refund on something they don't like. This is how they get such great customer loyalty. because the refund pays for itself and 1000s of other customer transactions. 1 refund. This is a highly effective business practice. All you psuedo-businessmen claiming how stupid this is ...the trillionaires beg to differ. This isn't uncommon in ANY country. Perhaps it is in the neighborhoods in which you shop, but not in the world. Different strokes, different folks. Smart businessmen make their money on these exact kinds of policies, not on sticking it to the customer.

And this is STILL not grounds for name-calling, even if you disagree with the practice.

Moderators, where are you?
This is the kind of crap which will relegate PoE to the dark cesspools of the gaming community. To irrelevance. Sheer human indecency being tolerated. You diamond and gold and other super supporters ought to be ashamed: you're a big face in this community and you're showing all the guests what a shitty community this is. You're shiny forum titles could be used to show how awesome this community is. Instead you're going to be the reason the game gets bad reviews.

Mods? This pettiness and incivility should be unwelcome.

So you're calling GGG a bad business with poor customer service because they didn't give you free stuff? Stop whining, you ingrate. I wish I had the money to be a gold supporter but I don't, so don't complain that they doing everything expected of them (and more in most other cases).

OP, sorry but you are an idiot.

Have you ever seen anybody going to a store, asking for some money back on an item that they purchased a few days back and just got on discount? No? Then why should GG do that?

And thank you Kildram (and the rest of you) for your civil posts.

your upset about $4?

you put $250 in a F2P game and your upset about $4.

I did the premium stash upgrade on all my tabs and i had bought a number during CB yes it would have been nice to just buy the 6 premium once it was available but wtv I spend more then that on a coffee.

It isn't poor customer service. Its pretty common practice to not refund mtx.

EDIT:

I live in Canada and I do enjoy the price match on items from retail stores, however the reason that is there is to protect from intentional price gouging. It is also not mandatory it is a companies choice to provide this price insurance. I buy alot of PC hardware and good luck getting money back on a video card when its price drops.

At the end of the day GGG was pretty clear that values and pricing would change soon, if you were such a savvy shopper you could have waited until prices were levelled out.

Don't take it so personally, bud. I think it is a good thing if GGG refers customers to their policy. I'm sure it wasn't meant to upset you.. just to inform.
If you've followed the game, and the developers. Then you'd know that they had stated that things would periodically go on sale from time to time. Everytime something goes on sale, do you think you should get your money back on it?

I personally bought over 100 stash tabs prior to OB, and while it sucks that I could of got them cheaper, I did get the satisfaction in using them while I was in Closed Beta. Personally, posts like this are distasteful and airing out dirty laundry on the forums is not the way to go. I'd ask you to go back and try to get money back for anything that you've bought in the past at stores when the item does go on sale, or is sold in bulk...you'd be laughed at by the store...which is exactly what I'm doing about this now.
Stuff happens in life. I bought my TV for $550 then it went down to $480 the next month or so. Their policy is their policy. If you don't like it, don't buy from them, the ball is in your court. Not trying to be rude, but this happens all the time and it's not the fault of the company deciding to have a sale or change prices.
they provided you with a FREE game

you can support them with buying stuff from their shop..you dont have to do this..

So you get 1 extra tab now if you buy 6 tabs instead of the 5 in beta..

peanuts..

Just buy 6 more and thank them for this awesome game

It is not like if I bought those long ago, it was LAST WEEK, and they tell me I could be exploiting.

And how can you tell it is 4$ ? I have put any amount.
I don't really understand your problem with this. They are rather polite about it and even explain the reasoning behind the policy. Other than that, i understand your frustration about missing out on the better deal. But that can happen anywhere - if you buy before "2 for 1" or miss it by a day - bad luck.

I bought half my my tabs in closed beta but I'm not mad that we got a slightly worse deal...For the response tbh I would have done the exact it is the professional thing to do and btw asking for ur tabs to be put into a bundle is asking for 30pts back for every 6th tab you bought in OB.
