This is a Free to Play game and you are complaining about few bucks that you are not obligated to pay for??

Are you kidding me?

Some of you people are just hilarious. Let me guess, you are the kind of person that tips nothing but the bare minimum at restaurants for perfect service right? or the guy that gives 2 bucks to the pizza delivery guy because he was slightly late?

First of all, it's the principle of a free to play game, which is "have our product for free, and if you absolutely love it then you will be willing to pay for it, as much as you want".

Second, is the fact that if $5, $10, $20 is a problem for you, then you shouldn't be playing video games at all.

Really, if you have to think twice to pay $20 bucks for something, then you should be doing something for your life instead of playing video games.

Not even when I was in college I thought twice for paying $20 or less for something.

As pointed out, they're trying to encourage people to buy larger packs. More likely than not this has to with any and all fees on their end when handling money - think of why Riot also does this with RP. They make less off of smaller packs which compared to the larger ones - margin of profit and all that.

And if anybody calls them out on that, welcome to how the world works. Companies are there to make money. At the very least, I'd say GGG deserves the money we give them.

I agree that GGG deserves the money. They are a very unique company making a unique game.

Some people though would just be irritated with having 96 points instead of 100. Maybe we are the minority.

What this will do is make us feel like GGG is forcing us to buy the $20 pack instead of having a choice.

For me... there is NO $5 & $10 choice. I will never buy them. It's a good marketing plan, but It's one that hurts the company's integrity in my eyes. (Basically, I like GGG less because of this)

TLDR ; I will buy the $20 pack, love the game, but like GGG a little bit less.

Seriously to anyone out there crying over how GGG run their micro-transactions just go get a job or shut up.

The game itself is free its not as if you have to pay $50 then over and above that go through transactions.

<Sarcasm> I suppose GGG should just make minimal profit resulting in an inability to maintain things due to no funds and have a stagnant game that loses all its players due to it eventually ending up in the closure of it </Sarcasm>

He's talking about the 96 points for $10... is there anything in the shop that costs 96 points? Everything costs in multiples of 10.

Some stuff is a multiple of 5, so if you buy the 5$ you could get a pet frog and a skill effect and you're left with 1 point so you don't feel broke.

This is the same as every other point system. It encourages you to buy a higher priced pack and have left over points.

It's a f2p game though. You don't HAVE to pay for anything to get just as much out of the game as anyone else. There is no "Pay to win" in PoE

No offence, but it just seems to me that the people complaining are not really consistent. It's not the pricing scheme in itself that's bothering you, it's the fact that feel that lower tier purchases should also be 1:1.

If it's the pricing scheme itself, than why is nobody complaining about the 100$ pack? You get more than 1000 points for it, which could potentially mean a free item effect. OH NOES TORCHES AND PITCHFORKS FOR THE INCONSISTENCYYYY

I explained why they're doing this. There's a smaller margin of profit in the smaller packs, and this how they decided to compensate.
Would anybody like some... POUNDCAKE?

They are not forcing you to buy anything. I mean literally NOTHING.
So it begins.

You complain that the original plan to have effects be one-hit only, and then pay to remove the effects -- and I agree, that was shooting for the moon.

So GGG bend, and that is amended.

Now it's about the price of points and items.

Gosh, colour me surprised, if the colour of surprise is a slight olive of not-surprised-at-all.

Of course GGG are doing a 'cash grab' -- the game is *free*. We all knew the deal when we signed up. Free to play does not mean free to make, and I have no doubt they're still a long way off making an actual profit, despite the amazing support so far.

But carry on. As long as this remains civil and behaved, say what you want.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
