New pet videos on youtube

i think this will take a long time of testing

higher price must not lead to more income.
If they would sell 10 times more for 1/5 of the price they would still get more money than before.
But who knows how much they will sell with which price? They need to gather ennough Data first.

Part of what makes these pet's valuable is their perceived worth. In the case of Kiwi's they have a very high worth in that down the road 2-3 years from now they will be very rare. Same with other pets. So for me the pet prices would look something like this.

Basic Tier-50-150 GGGold
(basic pets that are not really anything special)
(Like the Generic frogs or Salamanders)

Medium Tier-150-250 GGGold
(pets that are beyond the basic maybe with added effects like fire, ice, lightning.)
(I would say the Blood potion toad and fire scorpion fit this definition.)

High Tier-250-450 GGGold
(Pets that are unique species or wildly different art style and animations)
(Examples might be a Raven with unique animations and unique effects.)

Elite Tier-450-?? GGGold
(pets that are a different caliber like the diamond Kiwi or other very exclusive type of pet.
(These pets represent the most highly sought after and their price represents that.)

To me the perceived worth is very much in fact tied to it's price. Even if a pet is kind of blind looking it will command a large price or demand if it's is a higher priced or exclusive pet. I see no problem with GGG charging as much as they want I mean they add absolutely no gameplay advantage so why not let people go wild and buy pets?
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.

I wouldn't mind if they sold pets for 10000 USD or more, so long as the game remains free2play with no pay2win. I wouldn't be able to afford it, but it wouldn't hurt my game experience in any way either. I don't understand why people are getting upset about the pricing on something that really does not affect gameplay at all.

Personally I went diamond because I truly feel that GGG deserves our support for making the most amazing game since Diablo 2.

Turbine asks will you buy vanity item for 50$?

Just read this... most of ppl in this thread are fans of the game and longtime suportes with lifetime subs (its test server forum).

Most ppl in this tread are delusional.

When average player that come to game tomorrow anter item shop and will see prices like 25, 50 (or even 1k lol!) - he will just laugh and will not buy anything.

If people bought immortality in game credits and kiwi for $250, what does that tell you?

As for the hobby horse, I would buy it if it was a bit... shinier. I'd buy it if I even played LOTRO.

Edited for weird words not meant to be in there. >>;
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

As long as the pets or cosmetic items look good and the price is worth it to me I will buy it. If it is not then I won't. I don't know how some of you get by in life with the logic you've displayed and I really hope you are not adults.

Yes but this is a videogame. People play games to take a break from the daily treadmill.

That's why a lot of people resent F2P. It brings the daily treadmill and the class segregation into games.

We don't need luxury items. Just reasonably priced tiers where ANYONE can afford ANYTHING (eg. any individual item less than 20$), but if you have lots of money to spend, you can buy MORE.

"my 2 cents"

I think using a term like "class segregation" is massive hyperbole in this instance.. but since you went there... By selling any item for money you are creating the same system. The vast majority of players will spend $0. Being able to buy a frog for $5 compared to those that spent $0 is "class segregation" .. so selling another pet for $50 is no different.

You don't want or care to have luxury items.

That is very different than "We don't need luxury items."

Please, do not take it upon yourself to declare what every other player wants. You just take care of you. You do not speak for anyone else.

Do you realize how many people in this world don't make $20 a month?

So I guess game developer are immortals and they don't need any money to pay their own bills. Their life is to make free games, hosting them, and provide support to everyone else, whereas gamers need to pay their bills so they gives you a middle finger if you ask them nicely if they can give any kind of monetary support for cosmetic stuff.

Mmmm....sounds legit

Having lots of items regulardly added at small prices is exciting so you keep watching for the latest available gizmos.

It's about expectations I guess. Do you also expect to find "diamond" priced, exclusive items that only very few people will spend on, in the cash shop?

Not me. PoE is one of the few games I'd consider spending on (I bought a few stashes atm), but not if the same logic of super expensive tiers is applied to the open beta. I don't want to play a game where the rich are able to show off their wares. I want to play a game where everyone's on the same level, and if you have money you buy MORE goodies instead of ONE SUPER EXPENSIVE goody that shows everyone you're lucky in life.

I think that does make some sense...

I can agree to this on some level, it would be nice to put in $50 and be able to buy everything for a few months, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of people will remain F2P in this game. If you've noticed, most of the people who've chimed in on Pets are supporters who will put money in regardless of the prices.

Personally, I'm not in the F2P game business. I have no idea how much running this game costs, how many employees they have and their monthly salaries. One thing I do have is trust in this company to do what they have to do to remain afloat and not try to suck the money out of everyone's life savings; and that is more than I can say about a lot of gaming companies out there.

You can call me naive, but until I see a P2W item in this cash shop, my trust in GGG and their price listing will remain unwavering because I really don't care if someone can afford a $10,000 pet and I can't.

<- To many bad F2P memories.

Personally I hope they will be priced cheaper than usual F2P gouges. Maybe with limited edition runs of pets or something when the game's big going for bloody heaps.

Reason? It would mean more people would have em. So I would get to see em more.

I have no qualifications or insight on how much you can lean one way or another cheap/heaps moved expensive/less sold for a F2P but that's my opinion.

It probably works out those who would spend spend anyway so they might as well set prices high.
Which is fair enough if that's the reality.
