New pet videos on youtube

People that will complain about the prices of these optional pets are the same people that if all doesn't go well tomorrow will say they should have purchased more servers.

In short, they will complain about everything and anything.

I expect there to be pets costing in excess of $500. And why not? It's not greed to make something available.. it's presenting a means of support with a price point that determines the rarity in game.

Some will pay $500 for a pet. Others will pay $500 just to support GGG and see that there just happens to be a $500 pet to spend their points on -a pet that few people will have. Either way, GGG gets much needed support and nobody loses.

But this is not necessary at all. There are supporter packs for that. GGG can continue to sell tshirts, game boxes, posters, signed prints and so on for that purpose.

The Kiwis were different, because they were a unique item available with supporter packs. It was understood that those who have the expensive kiwis are supporting GGG.

Now it's not so obvious imho because GGG is doing well, and they choose to stop the supporter packs apparently. So the cash shop should not be about funding GGG as much as simply making a regular revenue.

I don't know... personally I see a distinction. The Extras that came with Funding (eg. diamond kiwi) VS Cash shop Items. It's not the same. The cash shop is not to buy supporter packs. If it's about funding a game that is not considered out of beta, then make a specific "supporter pack" section in the shop and continue to sell the exclusive kiwis for that purpose.

Yes but this is a videogame. People play games to take a break from the daily treadmill.

That's why a lot of people resent F2P. It brings the daily treadmill and the class segregation into games.

We don't need luxury items. Just reasonably priced tiers where ANYONE can afford ANYTHING (eg. any individual item less than 20$), but if you have lots of money to spend, you can buy MORE.

This is guy whio knows what hes talking about.

"Luxury items" LOL.

Yea sure... segregate your playerbase based on income (like you do already with forums). Its just like this should work.

ROTFL you ppl are funny.

I might be completely missing the point here (and I'm replying to this thread against my better judgment...), but a few people are talking about 'segregation'. Being able to afford an uber shiny pet in a given game is (to me) no different to someone being able to purchase something along the lines of an expensive ferrari in real life. Is the ferrari needed? No. Does it effect me in any way if someone has the means to purchase one? No.
Do you serve a purpose, or purposely serve?

dont you guys know the pareto principle

80% of the money is brought by 20% of the ppl (diamond, gold and silver + non supporters buying good pets)

I will disappointed if they are crazy expensive but I wont troll lol

I understand your argument, but what you are saying is that you want a luxury item that isn't a luxury. Rare collectors collect things because of their scarcity. I would be more than willing to see some generic pets around $5-15, but I still think a nicely animated pet could and should be sold for maybe $25 or higher. I will admit, I have a huge e-peen for owning cosmetics that not everyone will be able to buy. I don't want to own something that every PoE player will buy. I want to own a frog in a crown that maybe 40% will own and a flaming lizard that maybe 33% will own due to price or looks or whatever.

Also, even though you say you don't need luxury items, I don't think you understand what the word means. "a material object, service, etc., conducive to sumptuous living, usually a delicacy, elegance, or refinement of living rather than a necessity" Luxury purely means something that isn't needed. A pet provides nothing but cosmetics, thus it is a luxury item in PoE. Not trying to be rude, we just need to find a common ground in the use of a word for an argument to actually have meaning.

Now, I will say this, there is going to be a huge split for a while with players. Some people want cheap pets. I arrogantly assume it is because they do not wish to spend much money for few rewards. The other side will be the likes of the diamond/gold/silver supporters who may want to sink money into the game and be able to have bragging rights (i.e. they will have a pet because they can afford it and it sets them apart.) I fall into the later group. The main reason I went up to gold support was for the gold kiwi, with supporting GGG as my second tier reason. So, if my argument offends you, I can totally see why. I may be coming off as an ass, but I truly wish to say I am not trying to.

source? Diamond is only 10%, 210 Diamond Supporters and 2,2mio $ overall

I am more than happy to spend money and support the game. Microtransactions, while obviously controversial, are great to me because I get to pick and choose the facets of the game I want to spend money on. (Pets and outfits just happen to be my Achilles heel.)
