PoE however managed to dent my healthglobe pretty often in the first difficulty, so when going by that, I consider it way more challenging than D3 ever was.

It's not like harder = more fun necessarily, since the difficulty in D3 came nearly almost came from just elites. The difference in strength between packs of elites and normal enemies was ridiculous in my opinion. Normal enemies could hardly touch you, then elites would just 2 shot you, it seemed wrong to me. I really didn't like elites in D3 and the overuse of some of their abilities either. (vortex, reflect dmg, waller stood out the most as just being "annoying" and hardly fun to experience)

Diablo III had two difficulties

Normal (Normal - Hell) you could practically run them all naked.

Inferno (completely un-balanced mode) the only people that beat the game in the first month were exploiters and cheaters, and players who got gear on a one in a million drorp from chests and vases (because it was more profitable to die 1000 times breaking vases in Act 1 and 4 and than to actually play the game) because playing the game was impossible when something jumps from off your screen and 1 shots you before you can even react.

Diablo III's difficulty was completely parabolic the mobs were hitting for 100,000k when players at launch we averaging 10k ~20k HP there simply was no option but to nerf the difficulty for blizzard because Act II essentially was a gear check, checking for gear that would never drop for 99.999999% of its player - base.
Bots scouring Act 1 vases and Act 4 vases were the only ones progressing 1 week after launch.

That`s where, I think, the problem was... the normals and the bosses were pushovers while the unique`s (at first) were very hard until you found some decent gear but as soon as you had that gear there was hardly any challenge left if you knew what you were doing.

Sounds like QQ.

Also LOL at the exploiters and cheaters part. Fact is, Path of Exile is an easy game, and no amount of your mindless fanboyism is going to change it.

Well, it was all about exploiting. Trust me, smoke screen was exploited like hell. You don't need to be bad mannered though. PoE is a competitive game, so it will always be harder than D3 - there's maps that owns D3.

Path of Exile might not have crazy difficulties (although I really can´t say anything about that because I have not reached Merciless yet) and might not be the hardest game on the planet... but it does do a lot of things differently than Diablo 3.

And while Inferno was hard at first, it now is not (not when you are decked in ilevel 63 gear) and to say that it is harder than Path of Exile is something I would call a personal opinion and I respect that, but for me it is not.

I love it when people say POE is easy. They go on forum's find the most " op " build then complain it's to easy haha.

Sometimes i wish forum's did not exsist remember pre forums when u got stuck u wher stuck .... no guides no way to get info just u and the game face to face. Clicking on evrey wall in doom to find secrets , getting WTF pewed in the mine field in x-wing , going to the extrem content first in baldurs gate, running to the vampire cave in morrowind and getting 1 shoted. Now all that shit is easy cuz of fourm guides and exploits slaped all over the net :(
Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.

I think you might want to revisit those words when act 3 drops.. it's just a hunch.

I'd say it is objectively harder. You need more micro in D3 before you're completely decked out, and you need to spend more time farming.

I do agree with you that harder does not necessarily equal a better game. The elites in D3 were hard, but in such a way that it took ages to kill them. PoE's "difficulty" pretty much consists of making sure you're paying attention so you don't get instagibbed.
I think that what makes Path of Exile easier is the fact that you can directly change the stats on the items you find and thus making the game easier each time you do it because while you need to farm gear in Diablo 3, you only need to farm Orbs in PoE.

If this game had no Orbs and you had to farm your gear like in Diablo (1, 2 and 3) this game would have been harder (at least in the beginning because you always get to a point where you have the gear and then it becomes easier because of the higher iLevels).

We will know that the game is hard enough when people are asking for help to kill hillock
