Will GGG cater casuals
Even tho I'm pretty new here, I think if they were going to head down that path they would of already done it. But I think you will get a crowd of casual's from say D3 (they also have hardcore players too) some might stay, some might go back to d3 which is fine. D3 while I did not care for it to much it was OK in the middle, this game is what I want.
The game as it stands now AMAZING. Finally a game to fill that void D2 was filling. Phenom 2 955 Quad Oc'ed 4.2 Ghz - Biostar A780L3G 760G

" Most people that beat d3 pre nerf just ran past all the elite groups straight to the end. I know I did. Inferno diablo wasn't so tough but the way there sure was(if you actually fought and didn't skip the majority of elite packs that is). |

" Indeed... the whole loot distribution system was flawed, and to make matter worse, you could not farm bosses (I don`t know how it is now but when I used to play a boss would only drop rares or better on your first kill) because Blizzard wanted you to farm uniques (which were subject to lousy drop rates). That is what made Inferno hard... because you ended up in Inferno undergeared and thus you hit a brick wall. Now some people liked that "challenge" and I was one of them. The fact that I was undergeared made the original Inferno fun but after a while you acquire gear (slowly but you do) and with that gear the game became easier. I never tried the Monster Power (whatever it is) and never gained XP for Paragon levels because by the time these got introduced I had already quit the game. And the reason why I quit was not because it was too easy (or too hard) but because there was no thrills when you found loot. Back when I played Diablo 2, I sometimes got up out of my chair out of excitement after finding a nice Elite... that did not happen in Diablo 3. -Dinovash Last edited by Dinovash#4742 on Jan 20, 2013, 12:09:06 PM

The number of threads considering difficulty will be hilarious :P
I started a new witch yesterday just to test fire trap at early levels. Went to kill hellrake. I haven't bought coral ring. BAM ice spear to the face off-screen, frozen, next 2 spears killed me :P Now imagine a new player creating first character on HC and dying 10 minutes into the game :D It will be epic :) Last edited by Sagittariuss#1798 on Jan 20, 2013, 12:14:23 PM

It's more important to talk about balance, rather than difficulty, and to know the difference between the two. I want to see PoE be a fair and balanced game, that is also challenging.

" Kripparian seems to believe that open beta is harder than D3 is now. He compared it to how D3 was when it was first released. Standard Forever

Well in the time that I've been playing this game it only got progressively harder.
There are fewer overpowered skills/builds to steamroll your way to higher levels and if there are builds that are overpowered they still aren't so strong as builds/skills where a few months ago. Those could carry entire party's through Maelstrom of Chaos one-shotting entire mob packs. (Old Discharge marauder is a good example) With the introduction of maps the level of difficulty raised by quite a big margin in endgame as well. They have the potential to be quite a bit more difficult then Maelstrom of Chaos ever was. The nice thing about this whole system is that they can add new layers of difficulty quite easily if they feel the need for it. And maybe you have heard it from others already and seen it on kripp's stream but with the new patch the game is only becoming more difficult. |

lock the doors and don't let them in. We don't need a bunch of immature trolls ruining this great game and it's forums.
I have a feeling most of them will stay right where they are under some delusion that company invented the internet. And certainly not willing to actually think and work towards something. PoE is gonna kick some serious butt!!! Last edited by JerzeyDevil13#0071 on Jan 20, 2013, 1:03:14 PM

I'm willing to bet GGG caves in some respect. They'll make crafting easier by making chro orbs colored or make alchemy orbs more prevalent.Something.Orb availability can make crafting quite difficult and I'm willing to bet you will see more QQ threads about it than anything else.
