@Ganrao:
I really don't know why you dare insulting others. Maybe you think you have the intellectual high ground, but I can guarantee you that that's not the case.

We all live in free and liberal societies. And here everyone can do whatever he wants, as long as he doesn't hurt others or their property. And looking at pictures of chained women is part of this freedom.

Nobody needs a self-righteous teacher, who thinks he has to save the world by forbidding and removing anything that he thinks is not appropriate for seeing or liking. We had and have that at the world, it's called censorship and can be found at dictatorships.

If someone decides for himself, that women can be objectified, bound up or something like that, then that's perfectly in his rights. And he may even find likeminded women. As long as someone doesn't force women to do anything against their will I don't care how high he values them.

By the way: I showed your post and the art in question to my GF and she laughed.

And now get back under your bridge, troll.

Yeah, because this did not happen before.
Well, at least the population of suggestion knows better now.

I prefer Russel's lockrail in the last thread
over the arguing in this thread here.

Edit:
I love how he promised it as a "final plea".

It is, because if they don't fix their shit I'm just going to buy Reaper of Souls and never look back.

I'm flattered you think that is what is going on. They're just looking at the shitposters here and sighing about the shape humanity is in, not participating in a "raid". I doubt more than 1 or 2 people from reddit has bothered posting here.

You simply want to impose your own worldview on everyone playing the game because you can't handle a little UI art. Well, guess what? You're being a whiny bitch.

I doubt you'd even care if it was MEN chained to the globes instead of women, right?

I've a pretty good idea about how this whole "remove slavegirls" thing came to be:

I honestly don't even look at the orb candy when playing, or even in town, and cannot even remember when I last noticed it. However knowing it's there [...] is encouraging to me.

Sexism is a cultural phenomenon, a matter of ideology and teachable world-view, in a way which violence is not; exposure to violent media, such as videogames, does not appear to cause violent behavior - I think we can all agree to that. I feel pretty comfortable stating that no one in this thread has thrown on a burlap sack, picked up a tree branch and started beating homeless people, regardless of what exists in the game.

But here we have a topic devoted to an allegedly sexist design decision - the game's narrative-less inclusion of naked women chained to the UI - and the thread is filled with sexism and dismissal. It really begs the question: if we didn't live in a culture of rampant casual sexism, would any of the responses I quoted exist? If it weren't acceptable - perhaps even expected to depict women in a degrading way as a signifier of "maturity," would there be posters who clearly equate being offended with being a woman?

How is it an acceptable response "go play hello kitty online"? Or "I like seeing women in chains"? These are directly proving the point that the UI is degrading: you can't honestly expect to defend something as "not sexist" by being sexist.

And that's the problem: the UI is a continuation of this idea that causal sexism, degrading and objectifying individuals because of their sex is okay. That sentiment is echoed over and over again in this thread: "if you're offended, it's because you're a woman" clearly means that the UI is offensive to women, while accomplishing the magnificent irony of being dismissive of all dissenting men.

There do seem to be some good faith (or close to it) arguments for keeping the UI: it's a deliberate design choice meant to be part of a dark/gothic fantasy setting. But that raises the question: why does it have to be naked women? What about enemies from the game? An exile and a gemling? A squid and a zombie?

If the UI is such a small element of the game, what harm is there in changing it to make it better for players (and potential players) who aren't comfortable with it? "It doesn't matter, leave it alone" implies that it does matter to you. If you don't care, why can't you just accept that some people do?

And yes, it's a free society, etc., and the developers should be allowed to design the UI however they choose. I don't really disagree with that argument. But players should also be allowed to voice their problems with the UI (and their support of it!), without being subjected to this level of abuse.
i think the entire discussion about this is somewhat stupid.

simply the posters point that its disgracefull and stuff because it exists in the real world. yeah. and? your the guy that wants to bann shooters aswell? because war actually happens and is a terrible thing aswell? how could you really say that this ui PROMOTES sexism?
