Orb Candy, Diablo 3, and Sending a Message

I didn't even notice them until now, and even then I just thought they were designed to look like a darker version of what you see at the front of old boats, kinda like the one you arrive on at the start of the game.

but hey, I don't go looking for what some could deem "rape culture" in every little detail.
The UI was one of the first things I noticed, and I was especially pleased with the posture of the women on the orbs, I love seeing women in chains & I don't think the UI could get any better.

I'm really tired of offended people. I saw it on some forum somewhere else that there's some organization "People offended by offended people". Well I'm with that crew.

I find it really offensive that you're offended by something I like enough to ask the dev's to remove it. That's offensive.

We live in a world that is constantly censoring everything. In a world where there are almost no good rated "R" films because all they care about is the market and min maxing profits so all we get is PG-13 films.

We live in a world where they try to pretend that there are no losers, in a world where they pretend that everyone is a winner. They are doing this even more in videogames now because it gets them a larger market. People don't like to lose. People don't want to feel bad.

Well I'm sick of it. I'm sick of people complaining about violence, sex, or whatever else rubs them the wrong way. No matter what you do violence and sex are going to be a core part of humanity. We are violent, sexual beings and censorship won't change that.

Graphic art is a necessary part of human catharsis, why do you think breaking bad and game of thrones are so popular? Both have extreme violence and sex.

If you don't like violence and sex, that'd be FINE, just DON'T OPRESS your view on others.

I am male, and I would not be offended if it were male's depicted as sex slaves. Sexual slavery has been going on I'm sure for the entire 200,000 something years humans have existed on this planet as has rape. The UI in this game isn't going to make ANY DIFFERENCE whether it is here or not in increasing or decreasing the number of sex slaves or rape in the world.

If you do the math and you have your eyes open, you're a part of something evil in your every day life. You get married, you buy a diamond ring, probably mined by child slave labor. You buy shoes? Probably made in sweatshops, even shoes by new balance are only partially assembled in america. Are you on that bandwagon too? What is the real agenda here?

I love seeing women chained up and if they're removed from the UI I'll throw an even bigger tantrum than you.

Does this website offend you too?

Spoiler
In the case you're trolling: well deserved 10/10.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

To the OP;

Games are Art.

Art does not have to depict only nice things, nor does it have to pander to the morals or ethics of any individual or group. Nor does it have to comply with external pressures to censor itself. Michealangelo's David, The Virgin in a Condom, and countless other pieces of art have been called profane and many more will be called so in the future, yet these pieces of art are still available for public viewing.

In this case it is clear that the fantasy world depicted in this game is not a pleasant place. Bad things happen.

It is also clear that the game does not depict human trafficking, slavery or any of the other things you have complained about, nor is GGG endorsing or tacitly approving of the same.

Perhaps your time would be better spent somewhere where the things your are so upset about are actually happening.

Student, I have already addressed this topic in the OP. The part where I said you can't say "Take games seriously as art!" and "Don't take the messages games have seriously, they're just games!" in the same breath. See, that is being ACTUAL hypocritical. A lot of posters here don't seem to understand what hypocrisy actually is, but thank you for illustrating it for them!

Sorry, what?
I said the game does not depict human trafficking. I did not say "its ok to depict human trafficking cos its just a game." That would have been the hypocracy you say I said. But i didnt say it, so I call you on a strawman argument.

Maybe you just don't understand the message that casually dumping sex slaves in the UI of a game sends? Well it sends this message: "Our game is for ignorant young men who like to look at naked women and don't understand the damage this does to actual real women everywhere who are marginalized and oppressed, and quite often are actually made into real life sex slaves".

Maybe that clears this up for you!

Clear what up?
What "sex slave" is depicted in PoE?

Please illustrate how you know that the image depicts human trafficking or sex slavery.

Thats know, not conject or suppose or exaggerate. By which I mean show me evidence that the figure is being used as a sex slave.

Student, you wasted your one serious response repeating a bullshit line that many others before you have. Sorry! Think before you post in the future, and also think about what it would be like to be looked at as an object with no personal agency, feelings, or personality of your own. What would it be like to no longer be a person? That is your homework.
I have... actually never noticed this until I read this post. I literally had to load up the game to see wtf you were talking about.

Amazing image

That image is amazing and I love it. I'm actually really sad that my local college is incredibly conservative, especially the student body. It is a state school yet there is a chapel on campus @_@ I don't get it. They are always drawing "Campus Crusade for Christ" bullshit on the sidewalk and I want to just get a firehose and blast it all away. I bet most of these kiddos don't even know what the Crusades were, or don't realize that they were really about pillaging the holy land of all the riches / slaves / land the invaders could get their hands on. Doing it "for Christ" was just an excuse to motivate the ignorant.
