Diablo 2 had plenty of it,
Black walling from using teleport.
Pally charge desync'd like crazy.
Bone wall practically exploded the entire game and made everything go haywire.
Other people shooting from more than 1.5 screens away often had no projectile animations.
Maggot lair was desync shitfest
Frenzy barb runspeed was too fast for game to handle and caused desync.
You do realize this is NOTHING when compared to PoE's desync, right?
I played d2 on ADSL from KAZAKHSTAN and barely ever experienced problems. Yes, due to my bad ping, there was an actual delay (RTS-style), but this is MUCH better than desync, and with a good ISP, the delay is virtually nonexistent.
So please, stop being apologists. Diablo 2 has a much better netcode, and it doesn't use "cheats" like always-hit mechanics.
man, buying duped high runes on jsp is so much fun on 4th hour of new ladder, if only poe had same features!

Happened only because of the whole Blizzard North debacle, and a rather long period of "chaos" and not much support. The duping has been dealt with since then.

I can't remember. Apart with paladins spamming charge I dont think desynch was a big issue
Nope.
D2 had almost 0 desync, it had massive framedrops thanks to summoners, but desync wasnt really an issue. It happened once in a blue moon when your dial up was messing up.
Titan Quest, personally never once experienced desynch there.
Diablo 3. Nearly no desync, occasional rubberband, but nowhere near as extreme as in PoE.
Guild wars (another game i played shittons). Had some rubberbanding issues, again, nowhere near as extreme as PoE.
An amazing showcase in how bad the netcode and how the server/client communication really are is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnKR1vcxyK0
Its obviously not a playstyle problem.
Its not that he spammed /oos too much.
He didnt move in unpredictable ways.
In any reasonable game, going slow would mean the server knows exactly where you are, and the client and server would agree with eachother. In PoE it basicly blows up the game and you have no chance to do anything. There are fixes that GGG does not want to implement because it would be possible to exploit them apparently, but while that is true, we still have bot programs that work well from what i have heard, zoomhacks, maphacks, clients that customize effects, not for the sake of running better, but removing things like darkness wich gives you full vision of everything (mighty usefull i would say if we have a nodes that affect light).

D2 is like 15 years old game and we still had less desync, compared to PoE. Yep, there was - charge, zeal, fend (it was bugged anyway), frenzy on a lesser degree.
Then let's take into account what was the internet those days. I used to download a movie in an hour or two (depended heavily on weather outside, lol), now it's done in 2-3 mins. There was shitload of lag, but less desync. BTW desync and bad internet connection are also related. D2 could be almost desync free nowadays.
It used the same mechanics as PoE - chance to hit, block, dodge, stun. And there was minor desync.
So it appears a 15y. old game + terrible connection performed better, than a modern game.
I can't understand what people discuss about in this thread, as things are damn clear.

Diablo2 engine is laughable by today's standards, don't even compare to PoE. Even if there is less "desync" in D2 in the manner you are familiar with from PoE(there's still desync in D2 alright, it all just works differently, maggot lair anyone?), there are different kind of networking problems and bugs in there, and especially cheats. CHEATS

Cheats? You mean like PoE bots and PoE maphacks?

More like editors that allowed to change any stat on your character or those around you. You could even create any piece of gear with whatever properties on it you wanted.

Bullshit. This never happened on Closed Battle.net. Stop using the anti-cheat argument already.
