Fork

Just to make sure I'm understanding this support.

If I link Fork with Split Arrow for example, does the initial arrows retain their original damage? Does the newly created fork projectiles carry the damage penalties as listed in the skillgem description? Or does both the initial attack and forked projectiles carry the same damage penalties?

The base arrow (aka, the entire skill) gets the penalty.
No further penalty is applied when fork occurs.

Isn't a "no" better than an ignore?

Ah, thanks for the answer. Now to rethink my Split Arrow supports...

Does anyone know if the "pierce" passive is still useful if you're using fork as your support gem? If it pierces, is it an additional arrow that goes through in addition to the two arrows that fork? Thanks.

Interesting question. Someone in the previous page said "Projectiles don't fork if they pierce.".

So a quality Lightning Strike gem would alternatively Pierce and Fork. A 20% Quality LS gem would Pierce 60% of the time.

But... Fork is a kind of Pierce: when a projectile forks, the two new projectiles continue behind the target is that right?

In the case of Lightning Strike + Fork I think it would be counter-productive to upgrade its quality, as the skill is great to dish damage to packs of enemies in close range.
piercing happens before forking which happens before chaining. piercing can happen multiple times while fork can only happen once then chain happens up to the specified additional bounces.
if 100% piercing, then fork and chain never happen.

Fork can apply to projectiles. Freezing Pulse is one.
There may be ways in future to allow it to fork.

The problem is that it states that projectiles fork, and freezing pulse is defined as a projectile, thus implying (especially to new players) that it works with fork..
A bit of clarification on either fork or FP would be benefical i believe..

This has been explained a million times now. Freezing Pulse is a regular projectile like any other, except that it Pierces. Pierce takes precedence over Fork and Chain.

I know that, that's why i'm writing it 15 times a day to new players ingame, but it's obvisly NOT in any tooltip thus confusing NEW players..

I find fork really mess up Explosive arrow because 80% of the time all the target does not get a fuse attached to it, the forked explosive shot usually end up on the wall or wtv the environment it sticks on.

Hence you can really stack the fuse effect with fork as support.
