GGG Please Figure out how to stop Boosting (screenshots included)

Boosting isn't cheating. Boosting is a problem with the game in its present state. I wish GGG addressed boosting before beginning the month race, but we make do with what we have. I do feel bad for people like Prozon who put in a lot of time and haven't boosted, but the only way to make things right is to fix the problems with the game. It's much better that we solve this in closed beta than in open beta. If trying to apply the 'honor system' (whatever that means) between 400-700 concurrent players is virtually impossible, imagine trying to do that between thousands of players. So much effort wasted in this thread. If you want to help, think of a solution and suggest it to GGG. It is not easy to come up with a really good solution, I'll tell you that. I suppose it's much easier whining and pointing fingers than putting your mind to a problem and coming up with a solution. I agree in principle with this. But let me ask you a question panda. If it is just a problem with the game that needs to be fixed. Is the best course of action to have the "Best players in the game" using it to thier advantage , there by validating the method. or would it be for the "best players in the game" to play with out it and still finishing in the top as MRDDT claimed he would still be able to do. GGG should have fixed it, prob will fix it...but the players in the game that take a so called leadership role should also have some internal fortitude and self respect to not use something they know to be broken. |

My link addresses your question. You and some people here are not the arbiters of what's allowed and what's cheesy and must be avoided. The game sets the rules and anything goes provided it's under the rule set of the game. Why have a competitive game and then expect players to not try to win?

Pretty clever trick, that. One of the most sensible responses to the original complaint, with a knife hidden in it. Possibly the most inflammatory post in this whole thread.
Well done. Almost the whole way I've been on your side. Asked people what they would actually DO. Got snyde with faerwin once for a particularly caustic remark. No grudges, but gosh, I have to say that people on both sides here are just looking particularly nasty/condescending/self-righteous. I 100% agree with every word in your first post, but it'd be pretty damn easy to undermine the hate coming your way. If everyone just canned the insulting tone, that's all it'd take. -- I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. Last edited by Zakaluka#1191 on Nov 4, 2012, 1:08:01 PM

You admit that it is broken, then use it anyway. You judge yourself on that one. technicaly any exploit falls under that vague and self justifying way of thinking. They coded it that way so it is fair to use. If winning is all you care about then keep on winning. I personaly believe it would send a greater message to GGG about thier game if the best players in the game, and i do think you are one if not THE best, didnt win races because they chose to play without broken mechanics only to lose to those who do. The old saying "you cant have your cake and eat it too" applies.
Anyway i am done with it. |

Here are some possible solution, not my idea - Make a min level requirment for entereing the laboratory of say lvl 55 for example. That way in a 1 week race, not talking about a month one, even if there's ever one again I'll never participate in it. Ye some people will say getting to lvl 55 doesnt take that long - let's say 12 hours. Well for the majority of people me included 12 hours seem like a pretty long time in a 1 week race. If there are people who play 20 hours a day and don't mind getting 1-2-3 such leveled chars to boost, well good for them, regular folks won't be able to compete with them whether they boost or not.
Simple truth is, if GGG wanted to stop the boosting for the new ladder races, they could've done it easily. It was so obvious from previous races that it will occur here too. Hell if they wanted to they could've just made a simple rule - you boost = you get disqualified. IMO it isn't that hard to identify the ones doing it. I don't think if such rule existed, people would've even risk doing it... But GGG decided not to make such simple rule, and it's pretty understandable why - every booster equals 10 bucks in their pockets after all. I get it, I do, but still it's pretty sad imo. Hope when game is F2P in OB this matter will be resolved properly. |

Four friends who get their.characters to lvl 55 let me borrow their accounts
I just got around that lvl55 rule pretty quick. |

So 4 people will sacrifice their own race in favor of yours, sounds a bit stupid to me???

" What is boosting? This would need to be defined as I said before. Is playing with 5x50 and you being 75 level = boosting? What about 51? 49? etc. Also if I take the 10 or so hours it takes to get to 55 per toon, its ok if I boost? That doesnt make much sense. You are right back at square 1. |

In MMOs they often simply forbid 'multiboxing', so even playing two lv70s would be illegal. Which is quite hard to prove because people will say something like 'I play with my grandmother and she is very slow with her toon'.
It would be definitely better if boosters had to play those 10 hours instead of 10 seconds to make new character, though. Not really square one as you are trying to picture, more like square 55. ✠ ✠
