Do Elemental Ailments still proc with AoF skilled?

For example, let's say I crit with Arc and the Shock chance procs, do I burn + shock or just shock?

Another example, if I use Glacial Hammer with AoF and score a crit, do I freeze + burn or just freeze?

I'm pretty sure it only burns since it's 100% fire dmg. However if you use a skill like Cold Snap that has a chance to apply an elemental effect it will be applied. But since the duration is based on the damage and it's 100% fire the duration for everything except burn is 0. Or you could use an unique like Auxium that changes what the duration is based on.
There are no uniques that change what durations are based on for elemental ailments on enemies (excepting Soultaker).

Edit: OK Voltaxic rift

Oh I read Auxium wrong, missed the "you" part.

I was hoping it was similar to the interaction of status ailments with CI. Since the ailments are based on the life you would've had if you didn't take CI, I was hoping the implicit chance to freeze on some skills would be based on the cold damage you'd be dealing if you didn't take AoF.

I guess I'll just have to try it out in game.
If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.
Thanks GGG.
Currently rocking a 45% Blackgleam plus a 93% Projectile Speed Quillrain together with Ethereal Knives and Beartrap. Add in all the increased burning damage nodes and a single bear trap crit pretty much one-shots everything besides act bosses. A single EK crit clears entire rooms of whites as well as magic and rares without defensive mods plus with the extra range from Quillrain I can do it from across the screen.

Still leveling up but even with Bear Trap's massive damage decrease I expect to be dealing several thousand points of unreflectable damage after you factor in the burn. Guessing around 2k damage high-end eventually, which would create a 4k damage crit that would burn for an additional 5k damage against 0% resist. I can throw three shortly after each other and while the burn won't stack that's still a burst of potentially 12k damage burning for 5k more over 4 seconds, at which point a single trap will have reloaded to restart the burn.

Ethereal Knives should be dealing around 500 damage on the high-end at least, meaning 1k crits that burn for 1.3k more. With high enough crit chance I should be able to keep that burn going on most enemies I face even without elemental profileration.

End-game I might switch to Chernobog's Pillar if I can find a main-hand weapon with enough increased fire damage to compensate for the lost damage conversion. Nycta's Lantern could also be interesting as it would allow me to run Hatred and give what's essentially an easy 6-link to my Bear trap if I 3-link it with Chance to Ignite and Increased Burning Damage.

Don't think Chernobog will work since its only 25% converstion, so you will lose 25% damage.

True, but with blackgleam I can't get increased fire damage, spell damage or cast speed in my main-hand as that doesn't roll on bows.

Which means, as I'll eventually get 72% increased fire damage from talents that basically my modifier will be 1.72 for all my damage

If I get a Sceptre with 20% increased elemental damage built-in and roll 30% increased fire damage then that modifier will be 2.22 * 0.75 = 1.66, meaning I only lose a little damage on my bear trap. The advantage however is that said sceptre will be capable of rolling increased cast speed and increased spell damage which I can't get on bows, greatly boosting my EK.

Of course, that's mostly an end-game consideration for when I find a perfect sceptre. The only other option would be Nycta's Lantern since with all the in-built supports it provides essentially a 6-link.

Would someone mind clarifying this for me?

Let's say I have:

30% increased cold damage with weapons.
30% increased fire damage with weapons.
And a total of 100% increased two handed weapon damage.

Let's say I hit something with a two hander and deal 80 physical damage and 20 cold damage.

Is this what happens?

50% of all my damage is converted to fire for 50 fire damage.

The final output damage is then calculated by:

50 * (1 + 30/100 + 30/100 + 100/100) = 50 * 2.6 = 130 fire damage.

Is this correct? So even though I only did 20 original cold damage, I get the full 30% increased to ALL my fire damage?

Since there is no plain two handed weapon damage increase I'll assume you're talking about two handed physical damage increase.

Your 80 physical damage is converted to 40 fire damage, because this damage is converted it could be seen as having both the physical and fire tags. Increased is additive so, going by our 'tags', for this damage there's a 130% increase. So here we get 92 fire damage.

Your 20 cold damage is converted to 10 fire damage, against since it's converted we can treat it as having cold and fire tags. So it gets a 60% increase for a total of 16 fire damage.

Adding these two together gives you 108 fire damage total.

Overall, in this situation, picking Avatar of Fire wouldn't be a good choice.

Awesome that's what I thought. So the trick to AoF is converting as much damage as you can on each attack, so that the attack gets as many modifiers as possible. Thanks man!
