Avatar of Fire question

If only because I'd REALLY like to be an avatar of lightning (and/or have cosmetic affects attached to keystones).

I wouldn't hold my breath, the reason fire has so many rapid fire skills is the same reason it can have something like avatar, there's no advantage to quickly reapplying its status effect. Just imagine Flame Totem with avatar of lightning, it would be broken beyond all bounds.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

I really want to make crit based EK with avatar of fire so I dont get destroyed by reflect. From what I understand though it seems that would mostly be a huge dps loss. What do you all think?

Doesn't mean it can't have a unique drawback.

If copypasta is OP don't just copypasta. Though tbh applying shock stacks isn't hard anyway.

Why? Flame Totem damage is low that it won't pass Shock Treshhold and thus it won't apply shock at all.
I have a question about Avatar of Fire.

So basically I want to try a totem + ice shot build. But converted to fire to deal close to 100% cold -> fire conversion.

Ice shot has 40% phys -> cold. Avatar of fire converts 50% cold/phys/light to fire does that mean my ice shot would have 90% conversion? I don't really understand this stuff.

Eventually I want to throw Pyre into the mix.

After all the conversion, would ice shots cone effect still have a chill effect or would it turn into a cone of burning?

It would be better to open a new thread in gameplay help for this than resurrect a three year old one, you know. Mechanics sometimes change so old threads like this one may even be misleading.

Anyway, with that setup you would have
40% physical to cold
50% physical to fire
50% cold to fire

Which would result in (there's a sequence to observe with conversion)
10% physical
20% cold
70% fire

Unfortunately, Avatar has a line that says 'you can deal only fire damage', that means that you effectively lose 30% damage that wasn't converted, with that keystone you either convert everything or go home.

That's at least what happens with direct hits, the cone is actually 100% physical to fire so this will happen because conversion over 100% will downscale
100% physical to cold
50% physical to fire
50% cold to fire
results in
33% cold
67% fire

So you will lose a third of your damage here. If you use Pyre or cold to fire gem to get a complete 100% cold to fire conversion you will lose 10% damage on direct hits and nothing on cone, which would be acceptable.

To cause chill or freeze you need to deal cold damage and that won't happen as long as you're using Avatar, and even if you could, you need to deal enough damage to cause the status effect.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.
