WHY DON'T YOU LIKE TO TRADE?

People said auction house was bad in D3 because it led to pay to win. You know what it also led to? Not having to dick around for four hours every five levels spamming "WTB! WTB!"

I think the worst part is people pretending POE trading is any different to a D3 and its auction house. The loot drops are the same, in the end 2 people trade a thing using a currency, only difference is that one actually has stuff worth trading for and one wasn't a massive pain in the ass for no reason beyond somehow being hardcore or for bartering or whatever the fuck else is intended but entirely missing in execution.

POEXYZ is an auction house, just one made by a fan that you still have to set a play date with the other person to actually trade with after sending out PMs and friend requests for days.

This isn't entirely true. There is one real game play effect that the POE so-called "trade system" has aside just plain being obnoxious. It raises transaction costs on all items, across the board, by some unpredictable amount that is, nonetheless, generally similar across all items.

This prices most small-bill items out of the market. Transaction cost higher than item value means you've just created vendor trash where there would otherwise be a sale.

So it would be more accurately be said that POE has an auction house with a minimum price.

Now, that's actually even worse than just plain having an auction house, since it means you've both gained all the pay to win difficulties at high levels, and you've boxed low levels out of ability to trade entirely.

EDIT: I'm sure some people will bring up something like "but what about X gem that sells like hotcakes?" Yes, there are exceptions for some small potatoes items that trade frequently. They are exceptions.

As Far as trading goes...

Hardcore > Scrubcore.

You will find the in-game community better, more warm and welcoming and easier to trade with in a more stable economic market.

Scrubcore = Everyone Expects gear to be either Super super cheap or the price of a mirror.. Due to hoarding of items and gear/currency never going anywhere..

There is nothing nice about 6ling items in 20 fusings when others need 5000. Its just pure stupid. Number needs to be standardized a bit.

Ignoring that, they need a whole new set of orbs that increases the chance for exalts to roll what you want. Youll still need exalt/eternals because its not guaranteed still, but it would vastly improve the current system.

If you start standardizing the crafting system, you quickly reach a point where you might as well be trading.

Choosing exactly what you want and inputting what's necessary to get it. Is that not trading?

Sounds great! Let me reach a point where I can possibly get what I want without "having" to deal with someone who's trying to scam me!
Trading is a hassle.
Besides, I like playing self found.
I just feel that trading is generally a waste of time, and feel like traders try to screw me over for not knowing the market values, so I simply stay away from it.

Not asking for a SFL, I just turn off trade chat and play the game as it is.

Sure my chars usually hits a gear wall at some point, usually Act 1 Merciless, but I like starting new chars and build around what I have gathered in my stash. At some point I may find the gear needed to bring one of my old chars a bit further, and I go back to old chars on those occasions. I like the game this way, and find it a fun challenge :)

I am also quite curious about what the changes will be at release next week. Chris mentioned that they will try to make it more viable for players like me to reach end game. Gonna be interesting how that turns out in the new leagues :)

That point has already been reached.
This sure got a lot of pages. 16 pages and trading still sucks.

i just spent two hours trying to sell my fusings at the standard Fusing to Chaos rate and was otherwise unsuccessful. I decided to quit when two players harassed me and called me a scammer for trying to sell at the standard rate. I typically don't have issues with trading in games but this makes me want to play with chat turned off and by myself which will ultimately lead to me quitting because of how unrewarding and slow level 40+ is. That is besides the fact that people routinely harass and stalk others on the game which makes me want to quit. GGG seriously needs to clean up trading and overall the social part of the game before it gets too out of hand.

Don't take it personally, but with nearly all unique items you can level 1-58 in 8-10 hours.
The only game you need to win at is on the internet.

Protip: When you are trying to highlight how "welcoming" your league is, it's usually not best to insult every player on that league by calling them scrubs.

I've played both path of life nodes and anarchy (now standard). There was no difference to how absolutely abysmal both of them were for trading.
