WHY DON'T YOU LIKE TO TRADE?

It's boring. Time consuming. Noneffective.
Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.
As someone said, trading feels like home work. I want to play the game as-is.

I just hate to trade.

Edit: On the drop rate side, I don't care at all. I am completely indifferent about it. Raising drop rate won't make the game funnier nor better. You guys know about the Maslow pyramid?

I hate trading because of how long it takes, and the spam.
The excessive amount of trading needed to get some of the better items is just too much for me. I don't mind trading the few good items that I find but have no use for- but trying to sell every decent item just to slowly, oh so slowly, gain enough currency to get what I actually want isn't especially enjoyable.

This was the biggest reason for me getting bored with Diablo3, you had to sell every remotely sellable item that dropped to get the items you were interested in. I'm not saying that I have the exact same experience in PoE(here I've actually found quiet a few items I'm making good use of)- but the trading part is still something that I'll avoid as much as I possibly can while still being able to get some decent items for my new builds :3

I'd probably enjoy crafting a bunch if it didn't mean I had to go through the slow and long trading process to get enough currency to actually be able to craft something I could make use of.

Hope that helps.

Cheers!

In my opinion, in PoE trading is too time consuming for minimal advancement and thus it is excessively inefficient. I am here to play PoE, not some financial simulation. Trading should be a part of the game and be a means to further spend time playing the game - it should not end up being a replacement for the game and consume more time than actually playing the game.

As for self-found...

Everyone likes to find new items and upgrades to their current items in these types of games. Some people incorporate the process of trading into the overall fun of advancing their items. Others only find that joy from actually finding the items from drops and chests. For a variety of reasons they do not enjoy the process of trading and some actually find it to be a detriment to their overall experience.

Wanting a self-found league, at least from what I understand, has nothing to do with PoE's inefficient trading system - it is a matter of people finding pleasure from only a portion of the game and wanting higher drop rates without trading to better enjoy the part of the game they like.

You probably played very different D3... Cause i NEVER selled ANYTHING... And still got two chars for cheap Inferno farm... And its with extremly casual playstyle - D3 is too boring (as RPG mind you) to play hardcore hardtry :)

This. If there were iron man leagues I wouldn't know the difference as I always use the stuff I find or create, I find that the most satisfying.
And I think I'm too old to just ondergo all the spam, I really can't stand it more than a few seconds...

I like trading o,,o> I don't like merching/flipping, mainly because I am very lazy to do so and am lacking fundamental knowledge about the prices of items in this game. However, it's nice to just rock up, chat to someone, and try to bargain with them >;3~

Feels like a damn chore to trade, ruins the game fun for me. Trade free game, yes pls. Trading makes sense in "stock market manager 2" or a real game like eve-online, where it has meaning.
I'm really bad at increasing my wealth. Like *really* bad... for several reasons:

1) I'm bad at finding out how much things are worth and I'm bad at keeping track of market flux. Some people start running maps and have the trade channel open just to watch the market. I literally can't concentrate or enjoy my grinding if I have a channel open.

2) I'm bad at figuring out if a certain rare is going to sell on the market, or if I should just vendor it. This leads me to holding on to lots of crappy rares that just take up space for about a month until I realize that they are crap and then I just vendor them. This leads to a huge loss of morale for me.

3) In every ARPG I've played, I've never had a "GG" item drop. This means that all of my currency comes from pure drop only. In POE so far (since OB) I've had < 10 exalts drop. I've used these 10 exalts to buy certain items and uniques that I very heavily researched their prices beforehand. Basically, I am a consumer. I can only buy stuff as quickly as I find exalt drops.

4) As a market saturates with exalts and prices rise (while exalt drop rates stay the same) it basically makes several key items unreachable to me. I am not the type of player that can put a lot of time into the game. Some weeks I can play for several hours straight and really get some good progress, other times I go entire weeks without playing, and by the time I come back the entire market is different.

5) A self-found league seems (in theory) like it'd be interesting for me to try out, but I am still not 100% convinced either way. Just wanted to provide some insight into the mind of a player like me.

Does all of the above mean I'm bad at the game, or just at trading? I feel like I can't progress in a satisfying rate like this (sometimes). So there :P
