Why POE games economy will fail.

Then why don't you leave and play something else.

Goodbye sir, best of luck in life!
stop over moderating that makes the official forums useless
I am HOPING that release fixes a bunch of things. One of the things would be to remove stupid mods like 0.0001 life regen per second, or increase light radius or reduced level requirement.

I am hoping they are going to double or triple the orb drop rate and make crafting less of a lottery once release is out. I mean, if I were GGG, I would make rolling gear crap in beta so that when release comes, the people who played beta aren't soooo far ahead that it would discourage new players as they would feel at a disadvantage.

Here is hoping GGG do the right thing and make crafting useful/fun instead of a pain. Oh and map drops are terrible. I drop more shit when constipated than a quality 100% maze map in this game does.

I agree with OP. I'm one of those players who is never going to take crafting much beyond the occasional 4L, alteration orbs on flasks/maps, or possibly burning a divine orb or 2 to try and reroll a low rolled high valued item.

I've only gotten lucky once with fusings, and I've burned thousands of them over my time in playing the game. Fuck, it seems like every time I need to 4L something, it takes 20-25 fusings, and I consider that getting burned hard on a 4L.

See these boots? Its the last thing I tried to link, and I got raped on these hard core with no lubricants. 63 FUSINGS TO 4L!!

Last time I tried using alts on a flask, it took me nearly 160 alts just to get the warding suffix.

I avoid massive currency sinks, because I know I'll get burned. There is no doubt about it.

I honestly hope GGG and the player base doesn't take you advice and attitude. While ignoring systematic problems and sound advice.
I have seen the 'crafting' in Path of Exile referred to as a slot machine. I think the analogy works. I have a few suggestions to make it work, they are inspired by other games, but I believe they can work.

Make recipes for items that give arbitrary stats plus some random ones:

E.g. Sell to vendor: 1 Orb of Alchemy + 1 Chaos Orb + White Weapon = Returns the same base weapon with +30% Physical Damage +10% increased attack speed and 3 Random mods based on item and level, the item is now rare.

Have a post board that keeps track of the recipes you know, and have them unlock each time you find one.

Create any number of these recipes to take some of the randomness of the RNG out of the picture with the possibility of getting a good item regardless.
chaos/alch maps
trans/alt maps

eternal/ex/div jew/fus/scrap/whet armour

Shame that means that endgame content actually costs more than most people can afford without massive trading.

You dont have to trade at all. You just have to play a lot. People who think they can get rich by playing 3 hours a day are tards, total tards. You say, you need to trade alot. The "need" is wrong, since you dont! I made about 15 exalts in a week of docks farming. (Another 25 by trading, but still 15 without any trading.)

And the TO seems like he got no clue of POE, many people craft etc. You either never got to a point where you can craft or you're just too poor to do it. The people who want to craft, either got the currency or just craft without worrying about losing currency.

If you think people will hold onto currency forever, you're just stupid.

15 ex a week of docks farming? Do you multibox? No way you make that much unless you get uber lucky on drops. I no life farmed for almost a month with my sporker and did no where near that much.
people dont want to craft?

tell that to a few of my friends who have spent 100-400 exalts to craft some of the best mirror-able items out there.

i personally just used 17 eternals in one amulet 4 days ago.

also something you completely overlooked is maps.

my group uses at least 300-500 chaos a day on maps alone.

given 10-25 chaos average to roll a half decent map, sometimes taking 50-100 for one map.

sure we cant live in a perfect world. every economy system in every single game have ALWAYS had its flaws. POE is no exemption here.

GGG you have tied Crafting directly to the games economy as a gold sink. While this is a good idea its also a fail one becasue no one wants to craft. People don't want to craft becasue it makes no sense to lose all of their money to craft and get nothing and lose it all.

So instead of your system acting like a gold sink it does the opposite. People will hold onto their currency to trade with instead of sinking it into nothing. More and more currency will pile up as a result of this system over inflating the price of items. Meanwhile RMTs will continue to flood your game with more currency that was not sink. Untill you have a massive disparity between the haves and the have nots and a huge inflated econonmy.

Instead of coming in here and whining without offering any advice my advice is this. And I had offered this in another thread. Improve crafting chances by created an aditional gold sink in which crafting items can be combined to give the player a better chance.

No one is embracing the armor scraps and wetstones, why becasue it gives u a worst chance and it doesn't work. Not enough of quality items drop for players to even consider taking advantage of the system and is only really viable for using them on whites. Which brings us back to point #1 no one wants to craft.

So they are going to invest in a mirror into all their gear? Thats a lot of farming.

People who want to craft are those who are not at the middle of the road. There comes a time when you have currency to invest in crafting.... and it is there to take currency out of the game.

5000 alts to get tyranical
100+ eternals to finish your item
100+ exalts to finish your item

Barring luck of course no matter if the person is trading for currency or not... it takes A LOT of currency out of the game to craft perfect items and is being used as intended. Also so many people use alts/fusings/jewelers on a day to day basis that it is also a "gold sink"

Think about things before you make blatant blanket statements.

All currency is used, yes people do stockpile... but thats how they decide to play.

None of that takes high end mapping groups into consideration with how many alts/chaos/regals they use.

I agree, crafting is absolute shit right now.

These people saying that crafting works and they want to do it are the only people who can afford to. I can't farm 100 exalts like you guys, at best I can find 1 chaos a day if I'm lucky.
The whole system needs some looking at.
