Diablo 3 is happy to admit it has problems and copy POE & other ARPGs to improve.
" Not that this is the case for D3, but I find your position interesting enough that I have to ask... If D3 (or any pay-to-pay model game) were struggling for profitability, would you rather they added in-game advertising or upped their subscription cost? New Year's Resolutions:

I wanted to like D3, hell I spent $100 on the CE. They just took all the thinking out of that game. Maybe they will learn their mistakes and make it better come D4. If they get rid of the AH and allow us to actually build chars again instead of this every wizard is the same as every other wizard crap.
PoE strong suit is definitely the passive tree. They struck gold with that idea as far as I'm concerned. Hmmm...

" You are a relic. Today's gamers don't want the thinking. That is how the game market has been going for years and years now. I'd get used to most things being dumbed down outside of certain niche titles. Thankfully independent studios have never been stronger and they are generally going after niche markets. |

" If they come straight out and say that they got money trouble and wouldn't be able to keep the game alive if they don't use advertisement I could be ok with it. And if they talk BS, the internet will know sooner or later. Well, all around it's a case by case basis but Pay to play games don't get the leeway a F2P game does with me. “Demons run when a good man goes to war" Last edited by Sneakypaw#3052 on Sep 6, 2013, 5:13:21 AM

This is an extremely important discussion with a lot of good information to be considered.
If we were all level headed, reasonable, and critical thinkers... but I honestly don't think the community as a whole can really contribute to this discussion. Even with the occasional insightful post, or meaningful anything, it'd be silly to hope GGG would go through this whole thread looking for morsels of useful info. Diablo 3 was a great game with good ideas that blew it's load really, really fast, and they are actively working to fix that and give it some staying power. PoE has some flaws, too. Sometimes, people forget the words "open beta" and think it means it should be a polished, final product, rather than a final testing phase. Of course PoE needs some work, it's still got it's training wheels. http://i.imgur.com/kyhjZoN.png

Lots of very valid point here. It's all too easy for a developer to become too devoted to their love-child to realize that he/she does not necessary know what's best for the game.
Also, I find it incredibly amusing that GGG says Path of Exile is alive and well. Sure, it's certainly not dead, but any claims that the population hasn't dropped significantly since its early launch is nothing but ludicrous. Example: Path of Exile drew a lot of attention in a major, foreign gaming forum at launch, being consistently ranked top 10 in terms of traffic and discussion at launch. It has since fallen to rank 44, trailing far behind a long list of unpopular/unknown MMOs and ARPG. The consistent Seriously, GGG. Don't make the same mistake Blizzard did. Listen to your ENTIRE community, not just the ones you arbitrarily consider valid. " Seriously? Still using this argument? You need to realize that people simply do not have the kind of attention span. Once people decide to quit, they rarely remember to check back. Those who do will not follow up more than once or twice afterward. For all intents and purposes, POE OB is no different than a launch for most players. I am a Templar and my legs are cold. " The argument IS valid because it IS a beta. End of story. Last edited by mvm199#0755 on Sep 6, 2013, 5:13:10 AM

" The word BETA is a convenience excuse to escape the responsibility of making a mistake. I would never consider a game to be in BETA the moment it is open to the world and starts generating revenue :) Not to mention its been like 8 months ady and u r still using the word BETA :P Have u try working in a company for 8 months, collect salary every month, and u screw up and u tell yr boss, hey bro, i m BETA!!! |

" What makes you think they aren't? And why do you think either company is making arbitrary decisions? Do you have videos of a dev looking at forum posts with a blind fold and touching his screen randomly? Do you have dev quotes saying "I like how your forum avatar looks, so I'll implement what you said"? Blizzard made a lot of bad decisions, and they're slowly trying to dig themselves out of their pit. GGG made a few bad decisions with end-game mechanics, but everything else can be excused by their budget. Last edited by Novalisk#3583 on Sep 6, 2013, 5:57:09 AM

" ^ so true The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
