adghar, you paid money either to Support (aka supporter packs, that gave what they described) or to get Microtransaction points.

I don't know how you get the Idea that paying for those things means that there won't be any 'advertisement'.

That aside, it is understandable that people don't want their fantasy game plastered with brand logos of different corperations. But the outrage is way out of proportion.
Have people lost all common sense and ability to express their discomfort in an appropiate scale?

This is one instance of a subtle placement where GGG specificly said that they only did it because it isn't too out of place. (And let's be honest, many people don't even recognise it as a brand logo) And people act like this is the end of the world and there will be Billboards everywhere in the game and what not.

I just don't get it. People being not happy with GGGs decision, fine. But nobody can justify this kind of outrage over something so petty.

Did you know that product placement is illegal in some countries? And for pretty obvious reasons... how is that petty? We don't want that corporate crap in our faces when we play our games to escape from this very crap.

Please name some. With an appropriate source (i am talking about legal papers and court rulings).

This is an old article from the New York Times about product placement in Europe. However, I think the ban has been lifted in some places since then. Even governments have seen the potential for using it to spread their propaganda (in which case, policies and messages regarding certain behavior would be put in place of a product). No matter how you slice it, it's an unethical form of advertising. Here in PoE, it's just a green logo on the ground, yes. I'm not going to run around in a circuitous argument with all the flamers in this thread. To what avail shall I preach to deaf ears? To prove I am capable of obstinacy like them? No thanks. Some of us have stated our points and I won't bother to respond on this matter again after this post. Someone mentioned how Chris made no such promise as to not have product placement in the game anymore in the future. Well, when he said "...The footprints are not the first step in a slippery slope - they're as far as we're willing to go..." I see how that can be open to interpretation. I see it as just applying to this occurrence. But I can also see how it can be a vague way of saying there will be more footprints with more logos, but I doubt it.

I wonder if there is someone, who does not agree with the fact that razor footprints are a bad move, but understands all this opposing argumentation, because I fail to do so, as a human bean. Do you understand life?! I used to be an admin of a game servers forum. The community was around 10k. We had a non-popup baner on the forum from a sponsor, caused an outrage similar to this one. I can relate it only to hipster bands "selling out". It's somehow related to a band/company making money, not being niche, private, elitist any more. Generally it's the fans not allowing the product to grow because they want to keep something for themselves. This is all I can think of.

Also, if someone from GGG reads this, I hope they will not drop future business opportunities because of this situation. I hope they will grab them and become something better, like Polish CDProjekt. I just wish, that they would make the product placement usage more fluently entwined with the game world, i.e. tabards. Especially with e-sport leagues in mind.

PS I live in Europe. Product placement is here and well. Was limited on TV in Britain, as I said earlier, but as far as I know it's not now.

Anyone who abandons PoE over product placement is looking for a reason to leave. They were destined to find one sooner or later, anyhoo.

Would you stop watching your favorite telly in a snit over a recognizable can of pop? Okay, if Tyrion Lannister chugged Red Bull, it would give pause, but if you like a show, a little flash of a brand logo isn't going to make you stab your eyes out to spite the producer.

So there's no need to toss the Gerber baby out with the Johnsons & Johnsons sudsy bathwater.

I think a more constructive course would have been to ask for better shinies and promos. If those Razer snakes had looked more like the old snake traps of hunters in a too-popular-for-its-own-good game, I'd be signing up for them right now, instead of typing this. ;)

for me it looks so out of place...tht neon green goes so poorly with the dark scenario this world is set in....as to the other side of the foot print issue who gives a fuck ive stated earlier i love the idea of having razer back poe....razer is one hell of a company tht is run by gamers, razer produce some of the best gaming equipment out there. wht more could u want. i made a post earlier saying instead of foot prints it should of been a mini symbol over ur armour as tht way itd look sick and wouldnt be flashing in ur face and to others. good job poe choosing razer
I’d rather die on my feet
Than live my life on my knees

WTB ALT ART DEMIS
Here's my two cents!

It's like everyone forgets about the actual putz(s) that play this game; trolling, scamming, whining, et cetera! I don't know what's more irrelevant to this game; a vague logo of a business that has supported this wonderful game, or a bunch of children in an apocalyptic world!

Spoiler
P.S It's the latter. ;)

I'm not actually sure if many of you are really clueless or choose to intentionally ignore the fact that GGG got no money out of this at all. Its a scratch-your-back thing. No. Money. At. All.

So please don't bring that up ever again.

The title of this thread is straight up false. He didn't promise what you claim he did. All he said was that the sky-is-falling-oh-noes-mcdonald's-mtx-incoming hysterics can step back from the ledge. Nothing further.
The razer footprints are freaking sweet, and were free! I love 'em, I feel bad for anyone that was whining about them. Glad I don't frequent the forums but instead frequent the game.

Keep up the good work GGG, [Removed]
