I just want to point out, this whole side debate stemmed from your claim that PoE was a hardcore game.

Now, just read your reply again.

Lol.

I have no idea what you are getting at. If you want to compete in high level maps, you cannot be a casual or expect to gear up in a week's play time. It is also possible to solo the game up to piety, yes, but I never stated it was piss easy. (Depending on what build you use as well) Some people confuse faceroll with viable. And if you are just trolling or looking for some endless stupid argument, just back off.

just to clarify @ancalagon3000: the guy you are arguing with is our mapping group "leader", has an insane level 90 character which mows stuff down, likes to face-roll Merciless Lunaris (including Kole and Piery) with his morning coffee, and has been playing this game a lot longer than you.

carry on then :)

lmao, facerolling merciless piety and kole at this point in the game, 6 months after release, is such an achievement.

I think you just embarassed your 'leader'

PS he is leading some pro group then, a <2k hp marauder at level 77 qqing about white titty bitches in lunaris runs. I think I just died of laughter at your pathetic comment LOL

yeah thats right, carry on then

EDIT: and I own Docks and Lunaris right now - even beat Temple Piety once - even with that truly pathetic <2k hp. how? Endurance, Granites, Resists Flasks, Enfeeble, Temp Chains.
that doesn't make the OP's claim about the ridiculous damage spikes in higher maps any less valid.

no one cares if you own docks and lunaris, because its not any kind of achievement. So what if you beat temple piety ... she's easy too. Topaz flask and spell block >>>> Try shrine piety with -max res and extra dmg pls.

And why are you boasting of being so good if you cry your eyes out about white mobs in every other post? lol

I never said his claim is invalid anyway, but what do you expect? Bosses to be a cakewalk at high maps? Ridiculous to say the least. But instead of crying eyes out, ppl should learn to adapt and change their build, or just grind out a slightly lower level till they are sufficiently geared. This is the intention of arpg's, believe it or not, not the D2 LOD hammerdin style baal run shako enigma spirit dupe and botfest faceroll that every casual has come to expect. Many of you probably never even solo'd diablo 1 or diablo 2 prelod. I can tell you it was nothing easy, but not impossible either.

man you really don't know what you're getting into, do you?

hint: Diablo 1 wasn't the first ARPG/H&S or Roguelike I played. far from it.
hint 2: I know why "Roguelike" is called this way. I played the game it's named after :)
hint 3: my Marauder doesn't use a shield in Lunaris, Docks or maps under level 69. but and I don't even know if he's my strongest - only the highest level. I have characters in all leagues. all custom builds by me.

I'm not saying "I'm good" or even "I'm better than you".
I'm saying stop lecturing to people you literally know nothing about.

bosses? they should be more than a 1-shotting gear-check, which is exactly what most of them are right now.
it is as if GGG were thinking "hmmm we have no AI for this boss, and he only uses 1-2 skills. let's make him rush the player with insane attack speed, and hit like a truck!".
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun

You expect me to take you seriously with your condescending tone? ''you dont know what you are getting into'', ''you dont know who you are talking about'' ... no i really dont lol! Never heard of anuhart before and explain to me why because he is a level 90 and plays maps with an arrogant rand like you, it makes his opinion on whether this game is being casual friendly or not any more credible. /facepalm

I'm saying stop lecturing to people you literally know nothing about. --> I could say the same. See, I can be retarded like you too. These are forums, people argue and debate, get over it.

bosses? they should be more than a 1-shotting gear-check, which is exactly what most of them are right now. --> Just because this is your problem, it doesnt mean its everyone elses! A cheap gear check is inferno diablo 3 at release, not this game. You can play around with skills and passives, and you can overcome the difficulty in most of the cases. Then again, it doesnt mean there should not be a 'gap' in the game whereby someone isnt ready to attempt certain content, and that is the way arpgs are by nature, and that is not a design flaw in any way. It just keeps you going and going until you find a way to come on top, and its a very satisfying feeling :)

man there is a term for making people angry on purpose, then "wondering" why they are angry. it's called "trolling".

first you troll me for my month-old thread about the op combination of whipping and tentacle miscreations - then you get "offended" by the condescending tone you did everything to deserve.

in fact, you masterfully pissed-off 2 people in this thread. well done!
there is a way of arguing without offending others - but apparently you never heard of it.

back on topic of bosses, a good boss fight has creative ways to provide difficult "oh shit" moments: having the boss pull out a new attack just when you think you got him cornered. respond to your actions, lead you into traps, disrupt your attack pattern...
right now it's only "oh shit i just got one-shot by his basic spam-attack".

''pull out a new attack'' ... like piety, vaal, and kole all get one attack. /sarcasm And its ironic, you ask for variety, yet CRY your eyes out if weaver gets EK. IRONIC and PATHETIC at the same time!
''respond to your actions'' ... you mean like text ... ''hey that hurt!'' lol ... wtf?
''lead you into traps'' ... this isnt minesweeper or crash bandicoot. And why would you suggest this, when you were crying about perpetus? It makes you look stupid.
''disrupt your attack pattern'' ... like stun? or freeze? what do you mean?

Now can you open your ears and listen up once and for all? The one shots happen to glass cannons, players who are encountering boss for the first time and havent noticed its patters yet (worst case scenario, but thats why you start in normal mode in standard league if you are new), straight up bad players (sadly they exist!), and undergeared people in the case of 70+ maps. The build i am making can troll the likes of kole and piety all day. Its all what build you choose to play, its not a universal one shot for all fest. And everyone has a counter to any boss if they play around with their skills and playstyle. VERY UNLIKE inferno diablo 3 at release. THAT was a literal gearcheck, and a 100% case of no brains oneshots.

Now I'll just watch as you ignore what i said and repeat what you just said ad nauseum.

I agree.
What most people like the OP in their personal glee over their high level build completely ignore, is the simple truth that any game like PoE can by means of a few altered code lines be made completly unbeatable, no matter what.
So either dealing or bearing high damage with your char/gear is not an achievement in itself, but merely a balance issue and therefore boring and there are far too many boring situations in this game already.

They are BOSSES, have you ever played final fantasy or some real old school arcade game? Did you find them easy? No? I didnt think so. And really, these bosses are nothing next to other games.

Although I am more than welcome to hear your suggestions on for example, kole (even though he has already been nerfed) But please avoid things like what johnny posted, they are rather childish tbh, 'lead you into traps' 'respond to your actions' durrr hurrr derp

I bet the only thing you will come up with is 'lower damage by 50%'

You're a bit hasty, young one.
I actually have been playing vid games since about there are vid games and yes I can easily distinguish a boring boss fight from an interesting one.
In a good boos fight, the boss mechanics/skills limit you choice of activities by surprise operations not by spike damge.
Like i.e. Brutus would do a surprise ground slam that rips the floor apart, thus cutting your movement space into half.
That would be fun in my book.
