Torchlight 2, anyone going to buy it?
|
I bought Sleeping Dogs on PC yesterday, and annoyingly I was so dumb I forgot to check if it requires Steam. And guess what? It does. I haven't even installed it yet, but I'm considering throwing it in the trash. I haven't been this disappointed in a long time. :(
Yeah, I know, this isn't the Steam-thread, bla bla bla. I don't care. But I can't put it back on topic and say I don't think I'll bother with Torchlight 2 at all. I really, really want it, but Steam is an abomination I can't stand. I even had to click back to this post *three* times because the f***ing BS Steam demanded my attention - without even doing anything other than update itself. God, I hate this crap. How people actually like it is beyond me. The worst part are people who love Steam, yet hate every other identical service for the exact same reasons they love Steam in the first place. Internet, you scare me sometimes. Edit: Well, that does it, I suppose. I gave Steam a chance (I did pay for the game, after all), but it doesn't have my account anymore. F'sake... " Dude, why did you buy TL2 thru steam if you don't like it? (if I understand you good). On 20 september you can buy the game directly from runic site, with no need for steam at all. |
|
" what does one have to do with the other ? oh, I get it you're can't comprehend that there might be more than one way to buy a game lol oh, and bitching because Steam wants to update itself is like bitching when FireFox pops up a message saying it wants to update itself when you're viewing a web page |

" I haven't bought it at all yet, and I don't know if I ever will. At least I need 100% proof that we don't need Steam to play it. But knowing Steam, I might as well ask a pig to fly. " What one has to do with the other? Everything and nothing. I like that there are plenty of ways to buy a game. What I hate is that there is only one way to play the game. As I said, I bought Sleeping Dogs as a physical copy in a store, and I can't play it because I don't have the Steam-account anymore. Don't get me wrong, I do have the username and password. I even wrote them both down to be sure I remembered them. They just don't work. And that's the problem. Steam is a f'ing control freak who can't accept that some people want alternatives. Oh, and yes, I bitch about Steam wanting to update itself. It's not the update I don't like. What I don't like is having to install Steam in the first place. Can you give me a single reason why it's a requirement, and not an option? Just one? And if you are really on a roll, please also give me a good reason why people are ok with it. Valve makes some decent games, I get that. But that does not give them the right to act like control freaks and take full control over my games. If any other company had done the same thing, you would all have been pissed off. So why is Valve so untouchable? Edit: Put it like this: If you bother to read the EULA and all that, you'd notice that you don't own a single game on Steam. Not even the physical copies you bought. You only rent them, and Valve can at any time remove your access to all of them without a second notice, and they don't even have to tell you why. That's bad enough (yet people are ok with it?), but think about the Steambox thingy rumors talked about. IF that had been true, Valve could simply shut down Steam on Windows, effectivly ruin your entire games-library and force you to buy everything all over again on their Steambox if you want to keep playing them, and there wouldn't be anything you could do about it. But the worst part is most people would be ok with it!!!! It's Valve, and they are so freakin' perfect that peopel accept everything they do without question. Remember when they decided one Euro and one US dollar was worth the same? People complained a few days, then accepted it. It's Steam, after all. "And that's how you die properly, sailor boy." I think I will buy it.
I liked the TL1 so I imagine it is something for me. When is it coming? I have missed the updates for new releases the past weeks.... I am not sure if when I am going to order it. I am broken at the time, but I hope to be able to save some money for the paysafecard. :) | |
" TL2 will come out on the 20th. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.
