Torchlight 2, anyone going to buy it?

Anyone know if it's safe to buy it, or does it requires Steam? I really want to look forward to this, but Valve has ruined enough games for me.

Preordered when the option became available. After playing the beta, the amount of polish over TL1 left a really great impression.
And the price point is just too good to pass up. |

" Are you sure? If so, that's quite a relief. I still have nightmares of games I have purchased and downloaded elsewhere (like Magicka on GamersGate) where I was forced to use Steam. I couldn't even play Saint's Row 2 for five hours after I installed it thanks to Steam, and that with a physical copy. Why people love Steam is beyond me. I think it's the worst crap that's ever been on my computer, and I've had to reformat my entire hard drive due to a virus once. "And that's how you die properly, sailor boy."

I've played the beta and the game seems very good , i've pre-ordered it as i think it'll be much better than Diablo 3.

Runic as allowed Steam to have TL2 be in "pre-load," so the moment the game is done, majority of the peeps preordered can start playing the game immediately after its release next Thursday. So, you can download TL2 now.
Also, if you happen to have any issue like the pre-load button not appearing, or not downloading correctly, restart the steam client. It should update the client. I am almost done downloading the game. :D Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.
