Torchlight 2, anyone going to buy it?
I played the beta for TL2, pre-ordered it on Steam as well. The game is a lot more cartoony fun than I was expecting. Abilities, monsters, spells, are all over the top, and in a good way (IMO). I like the enhancements that they've made over TL1 (sending your pet to buy stuff as well as sell stuff is pretty awesome, though I don't think I ever really used it). The modding will hopefully be pretty awesome, and it's looking like it will be due to how big the community already is.
I'm betting the release date will be sometime around early/mid September. If you follow the dev blog you'll see they are quite close to a feature/polish complete state. It's also only $20 and has multiplayer. I've got several friends that I'll be playing with, so I'm sure I'll be content with it once it finally releases. TehHammer is not a crime!

Pre-ordered it awhile back and I'm eagerly awaiting its release. I love reading Travis' not-a-blogs on the runic forums in the meantime.
Reimur: even though you're wrong, why would you have faith in diamond supporters? you're talking about a group of people that are so autistic that they would spend 1000 dollars on pixels. we're almost the most idiotic group of people in this community. second to hardcore players.

Pre-ordered, but I have no idea if I will actually play it or not. Time will tell.

If i base it on my time with TL1 then no I thought that game sucked. I'll wait for reviews for TL2 though from what little i have read it sounds like they have fixed a lot of what i didn't like about the first but i am still skeptical.

I got TL 1 during this summer's steam sale, and still enjoy it from time to time. It's a simple, quick diversion. If TL2 ever gets that cheap then I'll probably buy it, but there's no way I'd pay 20 bucks for it. Not even ten.

@Ragnar
Yeah I understand not enjoying the graphics. I love TL1, but cartoony graphics are not on my preferred list. With that said, once i got to the shadow vault i cared less about the gaphics... I remember trying to get past 54th place on the leaderboards of the xbl port, fun times. >>><><<<

Never really played TL 1 much. It's still rotting in my 360 HD. Played it a bit and it was pretty fun but the graphics definitely put me off.
I would have never even considered TL2 if it wasn't for D3. Clearly the new team failed at analyzing the core elements of D2 and greed pretty much did the rest. However, after lowering my expectations TL2 seems a lot more attractive (judging by the beta vids on youtube). I would say the brothers at Runic would be another reason to have hope but I have seen original creators of the game destroy their franchise. Yeah, it's on my list to get. I never pre-order (you can call it "support", I call it bait) BUT I am definitely forking over my $20 after I hear some user reviews after 2 weeks of release. The other major thing that has me really attracted to this game mods. The gfx may be a little to cheery so there are mods to darken the bastard up (just like D3 had DarkD3). Also the biggest selling point: OFFLINE!!!!!!!!! "How would you like it if I snuck into your country and did this job over there... and not cash in any of your friggin checks?!! You WONT!! Because you will be right here!!" - Master Shake. Last edited by Fartfinder#0474 on Aug 23, 2012, 10:16:21 PM

I probably will because TL1 was not a bad game.A bit monotonous if played for too long but ok for short bursts.Since TL2 improvements only seem positive I think it's worth the risk.

I didn't like the first one mainly due to being non-multiplayer. I am not going to play TL2 either, as it's mainly a "LAN-experience", where modders and hackers can do whatever they want to. I like competition - when I find a nice weapon, I like to know, that not anybody else has it. People in TL2 will just mod it, if they haven't the best gear already.
