PoE could use Diablo 2's Teleport skill

Teleport was one of the worst things Blizzard put in D2. It was a horrible idea. A completely unlimited teleport is probably the single worst design decision in D2, a game that in its original state and in hindsight is absolutely filled to the brim with them. Enigma was almost mandatory by comparison because of how incredibly important that stupid skill is in any unlimited incarnation. Movement speed is the single most important stat in just about every game where it's applicable, and Teleport in that game was essentially a 4 or 500% movement speed increase.

And that's why Lightning Warp's delay is based on movement speed, and why an unlimited teleport will never exist in this game if GGG is as smart as I think they are. It is the worst solution for 'speeding up' a game.
Ancient and unwise, SSF only since 2012
the openers post sounds so fcking BORING.

i hope poe will never play like this.

if you are addicted and only have such a small activity-radius in a game, its NOT fun - its just addiction. thats two very different things.

I honestly feel sorry that GGG has you people giving them feedback; I really do. Teleport was the ultimate freedom in traveling in an ARPG world, how could that possibly be a bad thing?... sigh

Scratch that idea of becoming a best-selling author then. My dreams are crushed. :(

I agree, what teleport does is trivialize any other movement ability - at least the kind of teleport in D2 which could be spammed over and over again - a teleport ability with a cool down is a better option, and that is why we have lighting warp.

I edited the title of the thread to be more on-point.

Are you telling me Teleport wasn't fun to use? It's overpowered, yeah, but that's what made it awesome.

I loved teleport in D2, I hated lack of one in D3 (that skill was not teleport and not only because of cooldown) and could not make myself to continue playing wizard after I finished normal.

And D2 was full of OP skills, that is why it was so fun. Whirlwind, frozen orb, homing arrows, the bone prisons, hammers..

As for PoE lightning warp is bullshit, and I would be real pissed if I didn't find how to abuse whirlwind strike to be a quasi teleport.

I didn't find it fun, I found it op'd and game breaking, which is why I myself and the friends I had at the time who played, never participated in pvp outside of our group because we thought it cheapened the whole experience. It turned pvp in to a teleport - fest and spam skill - mini game.

I also believe they can make skills that are fun and not op'd.

last comments on this, I think my position is pretty much expressed. Whatever GGG decides to do is fine by me.

I wish it was :P

Pants are so much more fun than Teleport. Although sometimes no pants are also good, which makes pants well balanced. Skirts on the other hand are totally OP.

If there would be a build (passives + skill gems) that would be used by everybody who want to compete in PVP, the costumization that PoE offers us, would entirely meaningless.

And we wouldnt have the "Build of the Week" series, i would miss it.

P.S.: "Build of the Game" with only 1 episode, ...sounds so wrong.

I really like the Build of the Week and I got some funny ideas for my own builds out of it. Although most of this builds can't compete with serious ones they are really fun.

I just wanted to quote that in light of how seriously this argument is being taken.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
