PoE could use Diablo 2's Teleport skill

Isn't insisting on one skill/item that grants said skill.. a gear check? A horribly limiting gear check at that because the check is:

Teleport yes? = win
Teleport no? = lose

I know.. I said I wouldn't comment any more, but as I read this thread I think you are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Seems that you tried pretty hard to rationalize around what I said. Okay, here are the two options. Base PVP around a skill that requires, well, skill. Or, base PVP around slow movement and simply holding down left click. Which one is more-so of a gear check? Easy answer to me, how about you?

Seems like I took an argument you were using against everyone else, turned it on you, and you couldn't defend your position. But, to answer your question, the scenario in which in order to compete you must use X skill is much more a gear check than any other scenario.

Why exactly is teleport the only skill that requires skill to use? spamming a spell and moving haphazardly around the screen - stopping to spam whatever aoe spell you have because obviously your opponent will also be teleporting around the screen spamming theirs - requires skill. But, apparently, any other skill or combination of skills doesn't require any tactical ability at all?

Simple. Restricting mobility will always boil down to less required skill. A witch can't kite and avoid melee attacks from a marauder chasing her down with Phase Run; simply will not happen. In Diablo 2 the amazon had a naturally faster run speed and the sorceress had the Teleport ability. Not having either factor forces ranged character to play as if they were melee -- shooting others with arrows when the other person is up-close and in their face. This is really sort of absurd.
Witch can use Shield Charge and be faster than Phaserun.
Except that str characters have a move speed penalty on their gear and much less access to movement speed nodes.
Also, phase run is going to be nerfed anyway.

A 4% advantage really isn't that much. Even so, what stops from ranged characters stacking +Armor armor pieces as well?
Please NO. Teleportation is what made "Botting" so easy in D2. Please Please Please as an ex-D2 Botter, Please do NOT ever implement a teleportation skill in PoE.
I'm BACK :)

TMC was a mod that increased the speed breakpoints on your character by changing local files on your computer. So essentially, I would run around challenging other top duelers with the same exact setup and have epic and totally badass duels spamming/maneuvering around casting Teleport and spamming/aiming/predicting with Fireballs at lightning speed. I believed this to be the epitome of an ARPG's ability to have fast-paced, skill-requiring PvP.

So you hacked D2 to cast faster, and you think that was a good thing?

No, ffs no. 1000x no.

Anyone employing a hack should be perma-IP-banned and all their accounts deleted. Inexcusable.

Unless they use Iron Reflexes, or Armour Master. But based on their tree locations that hardly refutes the point you are making.

Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet?
I think teleport was a very nice skill to use in d2 PvM. It increases game speed, something I am missing a bit in PoE. Movement speed is generally a bit slow and a lot of projectile skills are slow too. I don't like playing a pure caster a lot because of this.

PvP teleport is impossible to balance, so I think it should not be implemented as it was in d2.
Anyone using enigma with ``pvp`` argument never played d2 at a higher level than:
Enter game
``shaco plizz``
Enter game
``40pgs for hr``

repeat. Not even one of my chars used enigma of the 9 years I played d2.

That it was op in d2 pvm, no doubt.
