ES nerf and consequences - discuss

The energy shield values on gear are too high, this much is obvious. I know they don't like fucking with gear but if they want to balance properly it's the way to go here.

ES was never a problem in the game before patch .11. It became "a problem" because patch .11 forced everybody to go to ES. So now thet going to "fix ES".

You can't balance the game for high end players. It doesn't matter how "well you balance the game". What matter is which way the community decided to go.

I honestly think this game is in decline already, I personally find it boring to farm, the drops seem balanced with trading as a factor. GGG seems to keep balancing the game off of the top players with the best gear, just like in d3 the nerfs only hurt the mid-range players, the top tier were never affected, just like this.




When I first found POE it was in closed beta, I have been a supporter for a long time, as time goes on I dont like the direction the game is headed, its just not fun in its current form. GGG is making a mistake. Someone should tell them games are supposed to be fun, there needs to be a balance between difficulty/gear drops/and fun.

Getting rid of the top end ES affixes for gear does absolutely nothing to the regular player. Nerfing energy shield by a total of ~8% does, though.

Do you know what's wrong with the game? Mana Resources, bad placement of nodes, bad crafting, bad defense system, bad upgrade path, desync etc.

Lets take defense. Why did the community suddenly go for ES? Before patch .11 there were players that either went with life or ES. Now everybody is going for ES because ES is the better of the two. So what did they do? Nerf ES. Nerf defense even more.

I predicted this. I predicted the developers will waste their time trying to fix/rebalance patch .11. It's a big fucking mess.

Where did I posted that gears needed a nerf or nerf in general.

All I'm saying is the developers forced everybody to go to ES because of .11. Now they going to fix ES which was never a problem before .11.
The passive tree is balanced if none of the spend points matters = point has no effect :D

You're fanboy and fanboy are the worst people to take advice from. The game is in a decline. All I see are bots farming in normal. The same people in the trade chat. No public games. Even public farming parties have been in a decline.

The game isn't fun for a lot of people because there no new contents.

I'm actually waiting for Marvel ARPG to fix the crashes before I leave PoE.

I agree with and support this statement.

I've yet to get any character above 3.5k ES and it was a struggle leveling them until I got the better gear at high levels. I had to group to make it there. Shaving off the top level prefixes or taking a look at a couple of the more popular ES uniques would indeed achieve the "balance" they are after, without screwing over the poor noobs still struggling.

We could also examine ways to balance the spork and summoner builds, which seem to drive the ES discussions. In my opinion, mindless builds, should have sub par results, rather than being the defacto build for every player to have one of.

I think its because the community and the developers are trying to hard to keep the game "difficult", game is just not fun to farm. loot drops are worse then d3's with no AH. You are right even the forums have slowed way down, game is in decline and instead of trying to make it more fun, they keep nerfing defense. Game is already artificially hard because drops suck so bad , its a gear wall not skill. Yet they seem to balance the game around people like kripp that just gets all his shit handed to him.
