Since increasing timers which slows down the game is a stupid thing to do, you can forget about GGG doing so.

Dude, just because your interpretation was 20-30 seconds, and THAT seems too much to you (and to me as well), doesn't mean twice as long as they are now would slow anything down considerably, and doesn't make the idea stupid.

The great majority of people who have suggested and supported this idea are only in favor of LONGER timers, not SUPER LONG ones.

No, that last part of my post that you responded to was not about the 20/30 seconds idea that someone brought up, but it was about that increasing the timers in general would be a bad idea.

10 seconds is too long, 5 seconds is too long. With that, FFA (even though it's not full FFA already) is gone as it is. Might as well make instanced loot an option at that time.

Also, no, I'm not the only person that disagrees with increasing loot-timers. I have no idea on how you got to that conclusion.

Your right, extending the timer much at all would be ignoring the intended loot competition.

Thats kind of the point.

But the devs are still considering it apparently so it can't be too far out there.
Standard Forever
You miss the point.

your game is in its current state (am sure it will always be improved) a gigantic mess when in groups.

For instance, the distance of vision is too small for ranges and melee can have a real hard time vs. some enemies; not ot mention the 1249831398 items cluttering the screen, servers being so so at times, or the buffs beign shown on the thousand pets a witch may have.

Ultimately it's not "cut'n'throat" but rather take it easy in the background or use your weapon like crazy out of hamr reach and focus on watching the loot instead of playing due to these problems and many others.

Let me show the priority gameplay should have:

1. Fight
2. Loot

what most people do:

1. Loot (watch for and take)
2. Fight

Your timer is ridiculous period. It might be ok now since people are more easy-going thanks to the word "beta" but don't kid yourself, if the next game like that offers the possibility to actually loot your stuff without jumping each second like a moron, focus on actually playing the goddamn thing, and being hard-fked (sorry for lack of better metaphore since it's true) due to server lag.

And please I played like many others enough don't tell us adding 2 second to all current timers will be a pb in terms of game speed, The only thing it will od is provide sufficient time for people to actually get their items.

Cheers.
Your "cutthroat feel" doesn't accomplish much if players can circumvent it by playing solo or with friends, which is what the majority of players do. So, really, it just functions as an inconvenience that isolates the community and the experience, especially at higher levels.

Why is it that when you make a logical post with a suggestion that FFA defenders can't argue against, it just gets ignored in favour of flame wars. =(

While it wouldn't hurt GGG to EXPERIMENT with loot options, since it is in beta, all they really have to do is extend the loot timer by 1-2 seconds (not minutes, Vooodu, seconds.) and increase the radius at which you can pick up your items. It would stop people from body blocking loot, and desync-pathing would have less of an effect.

It needs to be done, because it isn't lack of player's skill (or internet connection, in this case), it is game mechanics that are faulty and causing unfair competition in a supposed cut-throat world where we can't attack each other for loot hoarding.

Would it slow down gameplay? Yes, by 1 second? I think you can deal with that until pathing and body-blocking loot are adressed.

...Really? How do you loot before fighting?

Alls i ever see is

Fight and loot.. Fight and loot. In that order.

I keep see this getting posted and i can`t help wondering where this backwards point of view keeps comming from? Is it a WoW thing?

Hell, even when i play alone i pick up drops the moment they hit the ground.

I really don't understand concept of having to kill everything in a certain radius before all agreeing to pick up drops. What is this?

You probably missed the line above what you quoted where it had a certain word called "priority"

And sure you could be an asshole and go to pick up drops while the boss is busy killing your team-mates.

You see that's when you put loot ahead of the fight and while I guess this is what GGG wants. A bunch of selfish assholes hiding behind the term hardcore when really their just a bunch of pussies who enjoy consequence free harassment...

Dude... You try getting called a troll every two seconds and see how nice you are?...lol

Seriously, i woundn't care if an extra second is added or a bigger pick up radius. Since the current timer barely matters anyways. Its sometimes more a distraction that anything for me.

I can't even count how many times i've wasted reading a timer on ID scroll and miss a real drop a few inches away from me.

Bigger pick up radius.. Sure. Why not?

Its not like i am a total prick and blind to improvements. I just play one when i get annoyed...

Everyone has different priorities...

Like i said even when i play alone i grab drops the moment they hit the ground. Does that mean im playing wrong?

... but you called every person here a 'whiner' when we did exactly as you just stated. You get the few that say "he stole my loot. please fix" , but those people you need to ignore because they aren't giving constructive criticism at all.
