Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

I like the way it is now. I think it makes the game more fun that i have to be on edge to get my items, instanced loot like in d3 is boring.

If you are playing in a group you get faster xp, alot more loot faster and safter, is it realy that bad if you miss some items?

There is no loot that is yours untill you have it in your inventory, you simply have "gibs" on it a second or so. The timer thing is there to give ranged and melee players aswell as players with different ping an equal chance.

My sugestion:
Remove the names on the timers, since it seams to make a lot of people think it makes the items theirs before they have picked them up. And also maybe increase the minumum time on them a little bit.

ps. sorry for my bad english.

I agree that co-op is faster and safer than solo. Which is why I feel if GGG is going to change the loot system they need to up the difficulty at the same time.

Planet. You eluded to JoannaDarks point.

You say loot tension = griefing. Is this because you see your name on the item? What if it was FFA? Would it not just.be loot tension then?

Well first of all, if PoE is going to be "Forced Full Cutthroat" im not going to play it all.
Secondly yes, it had my name it therefore its mine.

Ive got tons of games i want to play, and if PoE is going to only cater to Griefers then i might aswell spend my time elsewhere that doesnt annoy me.
I have games i want to play and if one of them (PoE) makes me annoyed i can easily switch and GGG lost a consumer.
Im not the only one that will leave either, as many people prefer instanced/infinite timer loot.
And if casuals leave, so will GGGs income.

Its all logical really.
Its 2013, people expect instanced or similar loot options.
They played Torchlight 2 and Diablo 3 and felt that system was better and less annoying, thus they will prefer it here in PoE too.
I really dont mind if theres cuttthroat leagues, to house cutthroat style players.
Infact its good then so that i dont have to play with them.
And if i get to play in a instanced or infinite timer league with people that prefer a griefer free enviroment, its what i prefer too.

(FFA looting isnt the only issue PoE has though but that is what other threads is about.)

Like I said, if it didn't have your name, or anyone else's for that matter, would still feel "griefed". Also BL2 had FFA. I'm not gonna go into a tangent with that, but it seemed to work fine for them.

Your idea of a paid instanced league was fine, and is something I could see GGG allowing.

And? D3 also had smooth combat. I guess Smooth combat = Bad ?

Torch light 2 and Guild Wars 2 use instanced systems and did great.
Standard Forever
So did BL2. And they had FFA.

WAY off topic again though
