PoE - Diablo 3
Lets take it: we are so thirsty for a good ARPG, since it has been so long something fresh was released, that we will swallow whole everything that comes out soon. I believe that if Hellgate: London was revived (with fixes ofc) approx. at the end of August 2010, it could really take a second mighty breath.
2011 promises to be rich on rpgs so there will be a choice and resulting competetion after the first hunger is satisfied. As mentioned before, in D3 its more likely that the corporate effect will comsume personal inspiration and seeing, making a well-balanced, intertaning, "soulless" game. In long term it means will quickly get tired of it. PoE in my opinion has this peculiar scent that D3 lacks. And this can make me stay with it for a looong time. And I pray that PoE will not follow also quite peculiar Sacred 2 and Hellgate: London into oblivion. |

I for sure know I will play both of them. Regardless of the game, I eventually get bored of it for a while during which I play something else. I could easily alternate between these two amazing-looking games.

Definately looking forward to D3, but this looks quite interesting as well. Time will tell which will keep my attention longer.

I really start to worry about the attempt of blizzard to develop the game for casual players and to make it even easier to get into the game... Never thought that d2 was to complex or hard to understand/learn... The complexity in the character development was one of the best things though...
I have definetly more hopes in PoE in terms of complexy... However in terms of story telling and content PoE will have hard times against d3 i think... But that's not too important for me anyways! |

" Well D2 started rather simply and then added charms, runes and runewords. Adding new content isn't really an issue. |

I know there are more people out that that simply want to hop on a game with friends and complete some quests. After they do that for a while, then they get bored - so expansions get rolled out, but that costs the user more cash.
So PoE being a free to play is a huge plus - as people level up, get new gear and make friends, the attention span grows. Diablo 3 has a fan base from D1 and D2. And of course they have all of WoW and SC2 to advertise to. I'm sure PoE will do fine after D3 is released. I can't wait for both and I'm glad developers don't get discouraged when there are "big boys" in the same ball field. (like Blizzard) |
