I think they're laughing behind the scenes.

They've gotta be trolling. Look, I honestly don't care whether or not rare icons are on the minimap or not. I explore maps fully regardless, so I have no stake in this change.

But to outwardly say that the goal for this patch is to lessen the time it takes to clear maps, only to remove the one thing that gave players some degree of direction as to where they need to move towards in order to clear maps, it's gotta be some kind of sick joke. It's like saying "I wanna help you start eating healthier" and then bringing you mcdonalds and mountain dew.

It's actually comical at this point.

But I love this game so, I'll keep sinking my time into it indefinitely.

It really does.

This. It's something I have noticed across the entire game. They seem to have two design philosophies that are constantly at odds with each other.

...and in early life they played card games dungeons with complex rules....
it's early access, they're testing different things... which is fine.

I think the rare icons must stay. this was huge QOL.
Its either a sick joke
A poorly made decision
Or a bug that was not intended

either way makes me upset

nothing about this = faster
Why is everybody so surprised with this?

Game was fundamentally made to distance slightly from zooming, that's why poe1 and poe2 is separate.

I know what you want to say, "the money argument and something about "majority".

It was supposed to be faster only for super big maps, that's what they specifically said and if you're zoomer there is high chance the game is not going to cater to you, although we will see, but set your expectations right.

This is not the reflection of the developers you think it is, instead it is of the audience(s).

There are distinctly different player types for games like this and it's a balancing act to try and cater to them.

We are the problem, ultimately, that the developers are trying to solve.

I tend to agree with this, actually. My opinion is a bit more nuanced than my previous statement leads on. I'm mad they took my rare mob mini-map icons, I suppose lol.

I'm actually quite impressed with the GGG crew for what they've done with both Poe 1 and 2, and in such a short time. I expect they'll continue to impress me into the future.
