The REAL truth exposed!! (Brought to you by a player in top 10)
" So true... The Map system is basically a really interesting and good idea. But it should be fun to play them, and you should know that you get rewarded for completing harder maps. I really cant understand what would be the problem with just doubling or tripling the drop rate of maps and removing drops of lower level maps in higher ones. Thats simply all the map system would need. Plus it would not be needed anymore to use a ton of Chaos Orbs on Maps just because you need a 80-90+IQ on your single highest map but still mods that are easy enough to not fail if we would have enough map drops. Its just frustrating running a ton of 66 Maps with high enough level so you dont get any xp at all, but probably die every 10-20th map on desync and in the end you lost xp, didnt got any useable maps and nothing... Days of playing you would have better spend with something else. Maybe another idea too: Make a "map level modifier" on the maps. Lets now say what is currently a IQ <50 would be "map level modifier" of 0. Between 50 and 90 IQ would be +1, and >90 IQ would be +2. So the harder the map, the higher maps we get out of it. If we run "easymode" we only get the same level of maps out of it. If we run hardmode we get 2 higher levels out of it. And every map that drops should be of that level (not like its now 7 levels lower) Beside that, the IQ needs a rebalance. For example, there should be special Combination IQ Bonus like Vulnerability and Frenzy for example. Each of them isnt a problem for its own. But both together increase difficulty. Theres a lot of combinations like these that make certain maps pretty hard, but they still have a very low IQ. Last edited by thyriel#6635 on May 18, 2013, 2:53:55 AM

" Of course there should be penalties for cheating. I never said otherwise. I said that people who think that you can simply keep the status quo and then sprinkle in bans and your game is fine are delusional. And they are. You need to understand the motivation of people that cheat. You'll always have your fringe cheaters that cheat no matter what, but you need to find ways to minimize the cheating and reduce the impact of cheating even if it was available. To do this, you need a game that doesn't give you extraordinary and unreplicable advantages from cheating. The game as it is, especially the endgame, is extremely unrewarding and thus the advantage of RMTing compared to people who don't participate in it is absolutely enormous. This has nothing to do with minimizing anything. You need to stop living in a fantasy world where everyone playing the game is a little angel. It's like Madison said, if men were angels, no government would be necessary. There's always going to be people who want to cheat. You need to create a system where there's BOTH less incentive to cheat (punishment) and less advantage to it (rewards). Last edited by UnderOmerta#1203 on May 18, 2013, 3:03:38 AM

Certainly things need fixing,I'll not argue that.
But you yourself said The solution should be to minimize the incentive to cheat, and fix the map problem which nearly everybody acknowledges is a problem. The two are not unrelated, quit being dense. Minimize minimize I don't live in any fantasy world,I'm well aware of rampant cheating in online games and what you wrote here I agree with You need to create a system where there's BOTH less incentive to cheat (punishment) and less advantage to it (rewards). But I'm still going to push for bans on these guys because without GGG doing so,they condone these players actions. They had a choice to cheat or not to cheat and chose to cheat unrewarding game or not. |

Right, and anyone can see that they cheated so they deserve to be punished. The OP knew that so he made a new account.
A smart developer would notice that the reason people, even their more dedicated players, cheat is because their game has underlying flaws with their reward and gameplay system. |

" I quoted UnderOmerta. All rights and proceeds belong to him and I aknowledge his right to have it withdrawn. hehehe But yeah he coined it well.don't think anyone would disagree with that Last edited by Temper#7820 on May 18, 2013, 3:54:19 AM

" I may be wrong but there was talk way back before open beta that this was going to be a problem if not addressed in a timely manor and GGG has pretty much always said that they intend to keep working on maps and endgame. I pretty much echoed the cry of POE not being ready for Open Beta and end game was but one of many reasons. I'd search for links but I really am THAT lazy. haha Anyway cheers mate,I've cooking to do =P Last edited by Temper#7820 on May 18, 2013, 3:54:49 AM

When the game launches make the current HC trivial maybe even break a promise and reset the ladder. Those who ended up at the top in OB are immortalized as the OB champions, but it will be the OB legend and that has nothing to do with the real game, the true launch. (maybe keep the items)
Those playing fair and having the time will get on top a 2nd time, being more awesome and this time it is harder for others to stay near them with dirty monies. Those who invested a lot of monies will feel the pain, maybe some wrists are slit out of frustration, families massacred in a fury of rage, but that is exactly the kind of grim fitting to this game. Aftermath photos can be plucked from rotten-dot-com and turned into wall art, which characters bypass while traversing the tower of god at the finished act 3.
Spoiler
Am I serious or not? :D

Well, quite a few of the top 20 have not progressed a single XP point in the last week.
Hmmm? Casually casual.

" That's probably more a point towards them being tired of the map grind. |
