Death Penalty

If you remove the exp penalty then you remove the fun of having reaching lvl 100 as a goal. The majority of people find it fun because it is challenging. If there is no penalty for dying then there is no challenge and it is only a question of having enough time to play.

It also exists as a mechanism to force you to get better at the game and learn more about the mechanics.

It would be one thing if it in any way prevented you from playing the game but it doesnt. Reaching level 90 is basicly free and after that you can clear anything thats in the game and the player power you get from the last 10 levels is incredibly minor.

You want to reach level 100 with zero challenge or requirement to learn or be good at the game. The majority wants the challenge to be there. Exp penalty will never be removed from the game for the same reason why its a design thats used so often in games.

Once more I implore - can the proponents of XP loss please stop with the lies? The overwhelming majority of players don't even play the game anymore. Do not pretend like you speak for the majority.

And no Xp loss =/= no penalties. You lose time, juiced waystones, juiced tower influence, map mechanics, bosses, and uncollected loot.

We who oppose it are not asking for a no- challenge mode. We want for progress that was earned in the ten or twenty prior maps, to not be taken away due to poorly telegraphed and unexplainable one-hit-kills.

Your not making any sense? The majority of players arent playing the game. Nice logic.

So please explain to me, if my goal is to reach level 100 and they remove the exp penalty. Whats the challenge?
I can just die and start a new map no?
So then I will automaticly reach lvl 100 nomatter how bad at the game I am? Its just a question if I can spend enough time. No need to ever learn the game just corpse rush to 100.
Most people enjoy that there is a challenge and that everything isnt free.

So don't gain XP, why do you need the XP? If you want XP, learn to care and not die.

If I want a long life, I'd make it a point to not crash my car into trees.

See what I did there?

On the steam platform alone, POE 2 had a fraction of active players remaining. It's approximately 20-25% players remaining out of the peak player count for the season. So yes, the OVERWHELMING majority of players have given up the pursuit of reaching level 100 and do not find it worthwhile to put up with the friction.

Punishment is a different concept from challenge. What could be a challenge? Maybe bring multiple classes and multiple ascendancies to level 100. Maybe be truly experimental with pushing the boundaries of build diversity. Maybe stay in the hardcore league.

So in your mind the only goal that are fun to have are the ones with zero challenge? Because thats the only way that sentence works

If I want a long life, I make it a point to eat healthy and have regular bowel movements. We should have this as a feature in the game because games should emulate real life. Our character should randomly have to take bathroom breaks regardless of how much time you have to play the game.

Also in real life, magic spells don't exist. All spells should be removed from the game because real life n stuff

When someone is talking on a game forum and reffering to "players" then they are talking about the people who are playing the game. Not players in csgo and other games. Incase you got confused.

Ok so its a punishment and not a challenge. So explain to me, with no exp penalty where is the challenge in reaching level 100? You can just die over and over and corpse rush your way to 100 nomatter how bad you are its only a question if you have enough time. The challenge currently is that you have to do it without dying too often. Explain to me where the challenge is after your solution?
But the fun of reaching 100 is because it's difficult to get there.

So you didn't see what I did there. Keep reading what I quoted then my response, maybe it will click.

That aside, it's also a completely subjective opinion of yours that death penalty is the only form of challenge. If that's the only challenge then it's a failure of a game.

It's not a challenge, it's an artificial way of slowing level progression and the only thing it ever did for me was to force 1 of 2 things: use a meta AOE screen clearing build that is no challenge at all, or play an ultra passive defensive style that consists of killing enemies as soon as they enter the screen as I back up. Both require zero skill or challenge. I had more of a challenge and fun in the campaign using dodge roll and out maneuvering enemies. I didn't want to die, but I wasn't forced to play a boring play style in fear of losing hours of progress from a cheap death that didn't even test my skill.

If you think death should matter so much because that's how you have fun and are challenged, then you should play hardcore. You'll have much more fun with that mode because I know what's best for you

Let me help YOUR confusion. Less than 4 weeks ago, almost 250,000 people were playing POE 2 on steam. Today, the number is approximately 56,000.

Hello, have you heard of pinnacle content? There are bosses and gauntlets where you must offer an item that is consumed with limited number of tries. You can not brute force T4 Arbiter, Xesht, simulacrums, and more.
