lets be real for a second and not thinking out of your butt feeling, you want to remove death penalty? fine, but what about the consequences of doing that?
ever think about that? ever think with brain and not your ass??
Knowing PoE players and community.
they will absolutely gonna abuse the no-penalty on death, they will find a way and you will hate it even more for them abusing that shit.
then comes the complaining about that theres no more penalty, because the old player used to play a game where theres risk and reward for playing the game, like... you know, the whole PoE1 Community, souls game, and any other rpg game basically.
and they will complain even harder than you.
so either risking losing the mainstream player who used with risk and reward game like it used to be, like any normal game, or satisfying your modern audience ass.
i know what ggg will choose.
I go boss farming only after fresh lvl up. What does that mean ? I HAVE NO DEATH PENALTY. I farm maps and avoid bosses or unpredictable events while im in between lvls. I basically farm white and blue mobs. There is literally no reason to have exp penalty in Softcore. Coz we work around it already as it is. It is just ANNOYING but since its there we have to go around the annoying part.
If you want a IMPACTFUL PUNISHMENT then DE-Level or delete skill levels or gear pieces on death. You have HARDCORE. Death penalty there is DELETION. We have T17 maps with VOIDED option. OPTION and not a FORCED participation. If you CHOOSE to play that map then you can get deleted in softcore the same way as if you played hardcore. OPTIONS ARE GOOD. FORCED GAMEPLAY IS NOT !
ok, i just read the capslock one since seems like you are mad about something and need to use big letters, still thinking with ass and your only feeling it seems.
and oh, i read that big letter says that this exp loss is not impactful punishment? then everything good right? delete this thread if the problem solved.
damn it feel so good changing someone else perspective.

I'll answer your question in earnest. Yes, there is an explanation.
Ready?
There is zero evidence that the loss of players is due to experience loss. There are a myriad of other things people are upset about, build diversity and lack of loot being top contenders. To assume NONE of those people are leaving, but ALL the people are leaving for YOUR exact reason is some nonsense thinking.
You're asking someone to give an explanation to a scenario that may very well not exist outside your head (or the heads of far fewer than you think).
Example (and proof by contradiction): I have quit playing since 0.2 launch. It was not due to the death penalty. Therefore 100% of people leaving were not due to the death penalty, so unless you have statistics to give an actual percentage, stop acting so goddamn superior and realize you might not be as smart as you think.
My question was.. given that the majority of POE 2 players are choosing not to engage in the grind, what is the basis for the claim that was made - that the majority of players enjoy XP loss?
The fact that you tried so hard to weasel around the question & the fact that tons of players have shared feedback that XP loss is why they've quit the game while you baselessly assert "zero evidence" - your non-answer speaks for itself. Thanks.

Is it realllly so hard? so Fing HARD!!! to understand that if folk are working AROUND a mechanic and not working WITH IT then the design is SHIT?
Nobody enjoys LOSING. Its a LOSS. Its not a gain. Its not a lesson, its a loss.

yeah, youre right, maybe they should make a new single player mode where you can opt and just adjust the game with no penalty on death.
but in online game? some people must lose, cause we need loser so we can feel like a winner when were not losing.
i hope ggg can make single player mode only for you and other loser who want to stop feeling like a loser coz keep losing.
i pray.

Why do you play games?
Why is there no PvP in PoE?
Can you imagine a scenario where players are challenged without negative consequences?

As normally I wouldn't mind some exp loss on death, here in poe2 I really dislike the double punishment. Why have both the map respawn limit and the exp loss?
Losing a juiced-up waystone should be enough.
I agree with people saying we've got HC mode for masochists. Playing for hours and then dying 2 times just to have all that exp gone is a MAJOR BUMMER.

Aside from the fact that your obviously missdirecting because you have no answer because the answer is that no challenge exists which renders your whole argument mute.
I looked over all your replies to me and the only question (as in singular) you ever asked is why I dont play hc. Which obviously is another missdirection of yours to try and distract from your poor excuses. How do you know that I dont play hc? Me playing hc or not has no impact or relevance on the discussion or either of our arguments. I could be playing hardcore and still have an opinion on weither or not death penalty is good for the game. But to answer your question I do also play hc just not every league.
Now you could kindly answer mine
What challenge are you talking about? It's not a challenge when I die once every 10 maps and lose hours of progress, it's just frustrating. It forces me out of a fun challenging playstyle where I actually maneuver around a dodge enemies while actually interacting with their mechanics. It's not worth playing like that when I can just have all my progress wiped.
Instead I resort to unchallenging meta builds that clear the screen. No challenge in that. No challenge in shooting enemies on the edge of the screen and constantly backing off to avoid off screen deaths or swarms of enemies with 200% movement speed surrounding me. It's just tedious.
If the game relies on a death penalty that takes hours of progress as it's challenge, then the game is fundamentally flawed. As I've said many times, XP penalty by itself isn't the problem. The problem is how horribly balanced 10% penalty is compared to leveling.
I'll say it again. Go play hardcore. You seem to have no issues with having your time wasted on death so go play that. Getting to 100 matters to a lot of people no matter how much you claim people shouldn't reach it. You're just simply out of touch

Since you like to make a millionth thread
i gladly like to write the millionth same opinion:
XP loss is not a problem, progress loss is.
10% xp is just xp, losing the map, the even, and started to look for a map and tower again to juice was way worse
If GGG wants to keep the death penalty its fine
What I would ask for:
make the omens always appear in ritual map "shop" pool
At least give players the opportunity to aim for rituals and buy the death preventing and xp mitigation omens.
(the others could appear too, you would be limit with the ritual currency after some point)
No. Shouldn't have to rely on omens to fix a broken mechanic.
XP penalty wouldn't be a big deal if map tiers could go higher. The problem is losing hours of grinding on 1 death. If they want it to take forever to grind XP at lvl90+ then XP penalty should be removed. It's a seasonal ARPG, not Final Fantasy
T^he thing is YOU consider this a "broken" mechanic.
POE is about making a build and check how far you can push that build.
If you die often the idea is that you are not ready for that content.
I have more issue about lack of defensive mechanic and "skill" is nothing more than a giant statcheck. Map success are technically decided before you even enter.
I don't think there's much "skill" involved to get 80% resistances, 4k hp or 10k ES with a passive skill that has like 80% to ignore incoming damage.
Give more defensive and crowdcontrol skills to players, because every build is 1 or 2 button screen clear.
I think if block would reduce incoming damage not nullifying it
and evasion would be recoup (technically Bloodborne's rally mechanic)
energy shield should handle ranged/spell damage
endgame wouldn't be about a luck of "either I tap the screen clean or any random breeze decide to activate respawn screen" battles...

I answered your question. You are trying to make a strong statement that XP loss is THE reason people are leaving, and you can't prove that. You're the one with a point to prove, I'm just here to let you know it's wrong until you can give ANY evidence that XP loss is THE problem. Not "a" problem, THE problem.
Edit: For the record, any claim that the majority of players ENJOY XP loss is also just projected anecdotal evidence. So if you're NOT trying to say that XP loss is the biggest problem, fine. It's A problem. As soon as you attribute any importance beyond that without actual data, you're just projecting your desires on an entire community.
Digital gerrymandering at it's worst.
