City of steam hits OB tonight. Anyone gonna dip a toe in?:) Feedback pls

I played the Closed Beta last year, really looking forward to take a trip to the Nexus again. Probably going to start tonight, although the reincarnation of my Riven Gunner Girl seems to have to wait since not all races are implemented, yet.

you guys might not be able to play but i am thankfully, been plaqying quite a bit of this and this game is dope...

Kinda of a douche. ^

oh come on... I just can't contain my excitement... it's one of the best loot driven games ive played so far..
Just logged out of the game and i have to say: for browser game holy cow!
Its not the best game out there thats clear but its nice jab in a good direction if they build on that and keep growing, lets say like another young company >.> GGG :d they have a real shot to own a genre buster. But a lot of content is still missing but i read that will be added in the next weeks so thats good also polish, polish, polish.
My grade would be 8+
If a change of pace is what youre looking for and if steampunk is your cup of tea then i warmly recommend you try out this game. Peace :)

Yeah, I'm gonna check this game out next weekend. So close to NW too, haha. This will drain the NW playerbase. I'm starting to read from their forums some skepticism and cynicism about the game being dumbed down but whatever. Just like rusty grindy gears, this game feels like its going to be a casual grind. I feel I'm going to like it! May keep a tab running the game open in the browser.

Edit: Perfect World has a crap P2W reputation. I'm not familiar with R2 or their games but apparently they had bought out CoS and had made questionable P2W decisions into CoS prior to this OB release. Anyone can give an opinion? That would be much appreciated.

Glad GGG isn't selling out (I/We can only hope and pray).
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

ill do my best to reply to your question.... in city of steam, you don't have enough stash place for the long run, you'll prob be good for the first 10 lvl, but you can buy stash place with either money, or fake money which you win in this thing called a transmutor, this is what it looks like

http://www.onrpgblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Transmute.jpg

there dif images, that can roll and pair them up with more images of the same for a better prize... for pairs or more of the same image you can win fake money, which you can also buy other stuff with it too...but gain it at a slow pace, you gain token by completing quests and dungeons to be able to play the transmutor.... you can also sticky somethikng your going for, for example, you roll 2 hat imagine, sticky them, roll again, try to get a higher prize, the amount of shot u get is limited.... also each time u upgrade your stash it gets more and more pricy to do so...

now this is probably the most important part... they have this system called the energy system that limits your play of dungeons.... not sure exactly how much you get daily... but don't panic, getting energy bars to consume to gain energy is not so hard, you can either buy it, in a limited quantity a day, maybe something like 10 dungeons.... or you can easily farm for it in the woldenest, it's a huge outside map with hundreds of skeletons roaming around, and a boss called the skeleton king that keeps respawning when you kill him with a group of other ppl doing the same as you, trying to farm energy... you just need to find the skeleton king again when he's dead, i found it quite a lot of fun doing that last night to farm some energy, you can also pvp for energy or do pve events....

Edit, if you must know why they put this system in, i been broswing there forum and seen all the devs comments on this... and it's that there simply not enough content in the game and dont want ppl burning through it too fast, they have also hinted that later in there development they would take that system out when they feel there is enough content in the game... as far as i know, there a content update in 17 days, lvl cap now is 25 with 80 dungeons, in 17 days it will be lvl 32 with 20 new dungeons....
that's about all I know at the moment...

don't ignore this game cause the forum scares you, this game, it's because the people who like it are busy playing it and the ones that don't are painfully loud... city of steam, is truly a great game without having to pay a dime, within a week of play you'd prob already bought enough stash tabs with shillings(green money sign) for completely free... and the developer are willing to change things if the comunity don't like it, but i think it's ok if you go on a solf lauch, so that they don't eat up all the content in a single week, to have incentives to do other part of the game for 30min to an hour, and then have couple more hours of dungeon time... and then when there is enough content and it become worth it, to totally rip that system out... + you can only buy with real money a limited amount of energy, but can also farm for energy in other content like pvp or events or farming the wilderness, which is pretty fun and competitive if you ask me, cause your trying to get that energy bar first, out of 4-5 other ppl in that instance, and since the boss has a 100% chance to drop that, what i do is only farm the boss, cause when u kill it it respawn to a new spot....

from my experience and only spending 10$ cause i didnt want to wait for expenditure of my stash, i spent 10$.... and didn't feel the urge to spend more or that this game was totally pay to win(Neverwinter is prob more pay to win, after reading multiple posts and watching videos came to that conclusion) and not feeling at all that this game is a grind( was feeling that with neverwinter, also with POE) this game has got to have one of the best hack and slash loot driven online action rpg i have ever tried, tho the restriction are kinda annoying, but I'm confident that once enough content is in (they have said heavy content development and releases, 16 days to a content release, game been out 2-3 days) have hinted that they would rip that system completely out, the more vocal ppl are the faster ill be ripped out... and also the graphics are superb, and for a browser base game that is epically impressive.... I don't usually make big rant post like this but only cause I truly love the game so far and would highly suggest you at least give this game a shot, and try it for yourself, and then judge, and if you really think it a shitty game, being offered for zero, zilch, nothing, then you can go back to grinding and racing POE..

Edit: this video screams epicness.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZDMLh--IcI

I found this on the forums:

http://forum.r2games.com/forumdisplay.php?384-Help-and-Questions

It basically says that there are English, russian, arabic, turkish and polish 'regional' versions of the game and that you cannot play the English one if you are in russia. Quite what happened to the Ukraine (Definitely not russia!), Israel ((Definitely not arabic!), and other places, i am not sure,

But why make different versions the game? and stop people from playing on which ever server they want? I don't get it. What advantage is there?

And why not make french/german/spanish (insert other European language here) versions?

I am in the UK, i am fine :-)

it is just the thought of intentionally alienating a huge proportion of your player base by forcing them to play in languages involving 'political issues' just makes me laugh.
