You can just hold parry the same way you use block btw. You don't have to time the ability to parry the next attacks. It's still not a good ability and I never used it after the first few levels when I experimented with different abilities (and before I got cull the meek for frenzy charges).

All these things slowing the player down add up to the feeling of being overwhelmed in combat and it disrespects the players.
Yeah thats what feel pleasant and fun in PoE2, the fact that you can be overwhelmed by ennemies, by what you have to do. Thats something some players like and other dislike.
"
We literally don't have enough time for the kind of combat you're envisioning. We can't apply a debuff to the rare, use a setup ability and then a finisher before we're forced to start spamming dodge just to reposition.
Some of us can. Some others dont want to learn. Its video game, you like some and dont like other. Its not because you dont like playing a game, you are asking devs to change it !!!
"
Some players want easy mode most of the time, with the occasional boss fight for a small challenge. That's fun to them after working all week, they want to come in and feel strong in the game, let them.
True, some players want an easy mode. And it exists : it calls Path of Exile 1. Why do you want another clone of PoE1 when it already exists ?
"
Other players enjoy a really tough challenge, ala Souls-like games. They will super juice their maps and go after uber pinnacle bosses.
Why this other players, who want a tough game, have to play dozen of hours of what you want, an easy campaign, to have their challenge in end game ? Whats it has to be, for you, in that way ???

The "VISION" is scary, it will kill this game mark my words.
I don't mean ANY disrespect to current game directors, both are great guys I'm sure of it, but oh God how I wish Chris Wilson was in charge right now.

Tbh I think Jonathan was correct most of the time.
Meaningful combat like this takes time to balance/polish. It won't feel prefect out of the gate.
PoE1 feels more fleshed out because it had a decade of updates so ofc the sum of its parts will feel better than PoE2 atm.
It still is 3x better than PoE1 mindless 1 click spam imo. If some people prefer that, more power to them but PoE2 wasn't created to be like that.
Most people complaining are just too used to PoE1 and don't have the patience to learn how PoE2 works and that's the only reason people are complaining about the campaign.
Endgame is unbalanced for sure, but it seems to me that more than half of people that complain are having problems in the campaign because they play PoE 2 like they are playing PoE 1 and expect the same result.
There sure are many areas of improvement for PoE2, but their core vision is not the problem, only implementation. And I hope that improves over time.

PoE2 has mindless 1 click spam too and that's what the majority of the playerbase is playing right now.
I've been trying to make the "vision" work for a week now. The verdict is that the game isn't designed for it, and partially due to the dev's stubborness when it comes to defenses. They don't want us to tank boss hits but they want us to stand in place a good second spamming rapid assault and parrying, protected by evasion and 2k something life.
People who play PoE2 like they played PoE1 are NOT the ones having problems. Because with a good investment into offense, a meta skill, and avoiding the "vision" as plague it plays exactly the same. Except for build diversity of course, which is non-existent.

As I said, it is an implementation issue. Either or not they are actively trying to fix it or not idk...
Ideally 1 click spam should be possible but suboptimal. The only way for this game to get better is to actually balance and polish the combat/skills/builds.
If they don't then PoE 1 will remain the superior "package".
It is as simple as that.
But most people aren't complaining about the implementation, they just want PoE 2 to be PoE 1.5

The lack of defenses for one has nothing to do with "implementation" and everything to do with the "vision". Same with monster density, attack, and movement speed, same with clunky animations which make combos feel awful.
Basically, the game can only work if you pick two:
- tactical combo-oriented gameplay
- monsters swarm you
- defenses are lacking
But Jonathan apparently insists on picking all three.

For reference, I want to point out the original huntress reveal trailer, 4 years ago. I skipped the intro to show the combat: https://youtu.be/jVRADmjzsss?si=e6J31peTL4IMbSys&t=56
Look at how fast and responsive the character is. There were still combo abilities, but the combat looked FUN. That was the game we all got excited for.
Holy crap what a different game to what we have lol
That looked both engaging and fun.... and there was even LOOT?!?
Can I buy a supporter pack for THAT game?

Take monster speed for instance. Jonathan said some monsters need their speed tuned, which means he acknowledged there needs to be some fine tuning.
But then the other guy(Ziz) complained about the speed of wolves in the second area of act one, if I'm not mistaken.
Imo his complaint was ridiculous. If I was a dev I wouldn't listen to it.
He was basically saying that every monster needs to be slower than the player. He doesn't want anything that challenges the player in the first act it seems.
I once played a game like that called Lost Ark and it felt like I was killing cardboard boxes instead of monster for 30 levels.
Some complaints are valid but Ziz(at least in that interview) complained more like a spoiled child instead of giving valid criticism.
