The Amount of Time "Vacationing" is Actually Absurd
" If they had already schedules the vacations at priori (not unlikely considering the release should have been 3 weeks earlier) it might be illegal there (here it is) to try to postpone it further. |

I'm seeing a lot of great points from both sides of this argument. I as someone who has worked over 25 years (but live in USA so rules are different) have never seen a company take this much time off when just pushing out product. Yes, they did do some major work on release day and I for one was super excited to see that from them. They also did put out a big patch of course, and yes this is EA, but my issue is we paid for this.
If this was a free EA by all means take your time off but it was not free. Even then still sure take time off but why would you want to take time off at the moment your game comes out and you know there is going to be a major amount of work to be done? Sure the arguments are go play something else and sure you can go play other games you PAID for as well. But if you paid to play this game then that's what you want to do not spend money to be told well it don't work so wait a few weeks to try again. Now me, I've been having a blast with this game. Yes there is some MAJOR issues esp the lag that needs major work and done like yesterday but the game is still playable. There also is a BIG difference between feedback and just bitching like a child. Not saying anyone is doing either but again its EA so it wont be perfect for awhile. I played PUBG on xbox for 3 years that was basically non stop EA and that thing was a nightmare for ever. As a business though idk if I could feel good putting out a game and taking millions to walk away 2 weeks later and disappear while my product was having major issues. That being said that's just my opinion and I do think they are going to be working hard non stop so maybe that's why the long vacation because they know for a long time they are about to get their butts kicked fixing things. Just my opinions dont mean they are right just saying i get both sides just relax I have a feeling they are gonna do some great work. |

As a Game Developer, it'd be my dream to be trained around September-November (maybe earlier) to work as a Team B for the main development team during a Christmas release.
Not all of us are swimming in money for our Summer vacations. I didn't really have one, and I'd much rather have spent it working on a company like GGG than freelancing. Regardless, releasing such a big product and not having a Team B ready for maintenance during Team A vacation is something that I'd expect from GGG since they did never have the pipeline ready for that, but it's still disappointing given the size of the release. Agreed. Vacationing away credibility. Feels like a crypto project.

The only thing I agree with this guy is "release date being bad". Other than that I don't agree. This game is beautiful even for an early access game. This is literally the best arpg in the gaming world right now without a doubt and this is only like 40% of the game. We will be getting tons of content in a year.
What I will never understand is, they were well aware of releasing one of the most anticipated game of all time for millions of people. As you know, millions of people bought this game and still playing. We are 1 month in guys, 1 month in and playerbase on steam is almost the same, every single day. There are people on standalone pc client and consoles, this game still hitting 600k+ concurrent players every single day, this is huge. Devs releasing a game so close to 3 weeks of vacation time was insanely BAD decision. The original release date was insanely good but they had to delay it for 3 weeks which made it very close to vacation time. At this point, I'd rather them to delay the game until first week of Jan. They would be here to take action, update the game, work on the game, control everything etc. Now because of the vacation time, we are not getting any patches for like more than 2 weeks now. It's an EA release, which includes bugs, glitches, perf issues, exploits and many more. They knew this yet they released it close to vacation time. I'm sorry game is super fun, but the servers kinda ruined. Sure it's EA, but we are all spending time here at the end of the day and if developers were here, they would take action to prevent exploits, bugs, glitches, balance classes, balance rarity modifier etc. Every single second of vacation time, they deserved. But the release time was the worst decision. What I would like to see them now since they are returning to office tomorrow that, please give us an article about what's next, what will be changed, what will be fixed, what content should we expect next, are we going to get a new league launch soon, what are their plans now etc, that would give us a lot of excitement at least. Even the content creators who breath poe, excited that they are returning to office and expecting an article about what's next, what will be the first patch we will be getting etc. Like every single person looking at them right now expecting something after a super long silence. You can't say anything to that other than agreeing with them. We all love this game, we all want to enjoy more and more, we all support them to the fullest. I hope they also feel the same for us and give us an article tomorow. | |

These threads are offensive to anyone who's ever actually worked for a living. Imagine thinking your $30 entitles you to dictate post crunch vacation time of real world people who have families and lives, as though your desire for entertainment trumps that.
Why these giga-karen-speak-to-a-manager energy threads aren't auto deleted is a mystery. I mean you can't fix the kind of entitlement and complete separation from reality that some young people are openly displaying without shame or self consciousness these days. but they could at least just automatically delete them. The people in this thread are exactly like the screaming kids in the store who's parent wont buy them the toy they walked past. Worst part is its so infuriating that I'm risking a forum mute for speaking my mind, to some people who desperately need the honest truth of self reflection that comes with being told they're acting like children. Seriously its a disservice to these young people to not clue them into how they sound and that truth is just intrinsically insulting. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |
